I live in very wet Scotland.
I need a raincoat (brollies no use) an
d would like a bright red shiny mackintosh but am open to suggestions. Needs to be at least thigh length and a bit quirky.

TIA

What about Red Mac, I live in Scotland aswell and I walk the school run and a good rain coat is as important as knickers

MrsMuddle · 04/09/2009 11:05

I live in Scotland too, and I wlak from the Queen St station to work every day, and I am desperate for a decent waterproof that won't make me look like a hiker. (not that there's anything wrong with looking like a hiker - just not in Buchanan St!)

MamaG · 04/09/2009 11:05

The only problem wiht that shiny red mac is that you'd look like a stripper

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 04/09/2009 11:08

Is This, Boden Cloudspotter too obvious/expensive?

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 04/09/2009 11:09

Feck, not too expensive compared to the red mac obv..

bodenites · 04/09/2009 11:09

or a lovely juicy apple...yum i am in scotland as well and it is truly minging today isnt it?

HelenaBonhamCarter · 04/09/2009 11:09

i ahve the cloudspotter from last winter. I ahve worn it twice because it is shapeless and I feel stupid being covered in bog green spots on a purple background.

If anyone wants it I will be so glad to offload pass it on.

MrsBadger · 04/09/2009 11:09

Boden
[rummages]
red and purple patterened

HelenaBonhamCarter · 04/09/2009 11:10

Apols for typos. My brain thinks I am still breastfeeding at the computer.

HelenaBonhamCarter · 04/09/2009 11:10

MrsB I like the way you rummage.

bodenites · 04/09/2009 11:11

sell it on ebay

WelliesAndPyjamas · 04/09/2009 11:16

I looooove this but have forced myself to make do with a boring old cheap regatta raincoat .

MaggieVirgo · 04/09/2009 11:16

Helena Bonhamcarter, that was my worry too. I want a mac that is properly rain proof, - cloudspotter mac looks nice but i might feel like a 6 year old girl in it... it is a bit girly wirly pudding and pie. or sumfink like that.

WelliesAndPyjamas · 04/09/2009 11:17

actually DH did point out that it is merely water repellant, the old spoilsport

ChopsTheDuck · 04/09/2009 11:19

She's right, y'know!

HelenaBonhamCarter · 04/09/2009 11:19

Ooer, v nice but ££ for a poncho, I bet it isn't very waterproof and can you move your arms?

Mags yes it is a bit conspicuous. I got a nice one from Gudrun Sjoden last year and so did my friend, she kept hers, mine was too big, it is wearable and waterproof and I hate my Boden one

Sadly GS have got different patterns this year and about £100 for it which I am not doing.

Have got a nice proper macintosh coat, and am hopefully getting Boden hat to go with it as no hood.

Rumpel · 04/09/2009 11:21

Hmm RED MAC is gorgeous but way too expensive. Looked at Boden but am a bit . Love the poncho but it does say 'shower'. We don't really get winter 'showers' in Scotland LOL!

I'm currently eyeing up a lovely purple parka:

Bu t not sure if it will be waterproof enough - don't get me wrong I don't venture too far - just a little walk with DCs but can take ages due to their age.

Yep that's the one. I do love parkas - was madly infatuated with a Mod in first year - he was in 4th.

Focking weird pics on hre., Kimono mac anyone?

HelenaBonhamCarter · 04/09/2009 11:42

Then we have the Katymac

Someone shoudl tell her!
It's lovely shape. Just too blardy expensive.

MaggieVirgo · 04/09/2009 11:49

Wow, well if it didn't keep rain out at THAT price I'd return it on foot.

Rumpel · 04/09/2009 12:04

If you really are HBC I love your style and would love to be able to buy the house next door so DH and I could LTA like you and your DH - so much simpler.

I used to have a crushed velvet swing coat like that - beautiful.
