Decided to splash out on a moisturiser as just turned 40, is Clarins the best?

I've always bought No7 skincare products and considered this to be at the high end of the market for my financial circumstances. But having accrued a bit of Birthday money recently and finding out that most of my 40-something pals use Clarins, Lancome or the like and all look fab, have decided to bite the bullet and go to the "posh" beauty counters for some retail therapy. Help! They always seem a tad intimidating! The general consensus seems to be that Clarins' day cream is the best. My skin is combination (I think!)

reading the papers last week there was an interesting article where Which reviewed a lot of face care ranges and Simple came out on top .. even beating clarins.. I have used the whole spectrum of moisturisers as have very dry skin .. from la mer to aldi including clarins and have to say that I have the same results with Simple as I did with all of the others..

Blimey! That's news to me! Maybe I'll spend the bulk of my birthday money on something else!

I had great results with Creme de la Mer the one pot of it I had, in the year run up to my wedding. It did last a year too!

It was probably more to do with the constant attention I paid my skin rather than the product though....

I second elemis pro collagen marine cream. It's excellent (am over 40!)

no7 serum good, their creams I don't like prefer Time delay but favourite is Clarins partly because I like the smell and partly because it agrees with my mixed skin

I've had a pot of the elemis marine cream stuff.

Roc still the best imvho.

Vichy a close second.

Neutrogena a respectable third (and not too £££).

I'm going to try that seavite thanks wats - I remember you've linked to them before. There's an elemis TSV coming up on QVC in Sept so fingers crossed for the pro collagen marine cream being in it!
