Hi tops - maroon
Low tops - white (non-optical, ie off-white)

Laces straight across - I'm sure they came like this, as I'm far too lazy to have relaced them.

Low tops with skirts, shorts or crops, hi tops with trousers. The benefit of the hi top, teenage or not , is that, should one's trouser leg ride up, it matters not what one's socks look like.

I've just seen double upper hi tops on Amazon that I really really need ... curse this thread.

they have 19 holes and take bloody ages to get on and off

I saw nice pink Lee Cooper Converse style lo tops today for £7.99, I'm regreting not getting them.

Ds1 (12) has his laces straight. It would require far too much effort on his part to re lace them

One pair all white shoes with pointy toes that I mainly wear to work.

were for £7.99 - are they practical - in honesty i have been wearing white lace up plimsolls with big converese type rubber front from school shop for a fiver. I walk through them in about 8 weeks so completely false economy but ok for the summer. Are these practical for winter though?

not practical for winter in freezing wet Ireland I need big warm boots and 2 pairs of socks, sometimes fluffy insoles too!

I think Converse are worth the money, I lived in my last pair for about 10yrs before they bit the dust (lived in sunny south england so wore them year round)
