Help!
Guests likely to be dreadlocked middle class hippy types.
Actual wedding taking place in old mansion house so would prefer not to wear wellies the whole time.

ok, think i'm overloaded now.
have saved the links to the best ones and will sleep on it.
thanks for your help.

Lulubee · 18/08/2009 22:00

I rather like this - very vintage looking

Lulubee · 18/08/2009 22:00

Yeah,good plan

Platesmasher · 18/08/2009 22:06

yes, i looked at that one oddly enough.

Platesmasher · 18/08/2009 22:06

thanks.

BunnyLebowski · 19/08/2009 09:01

That South dress that Lulubee just linked to is gorgeous! Definitely my favourite so far.

Luckily it looks too long for my shortarse frame otherwise there'd be a dent in my bank balance!

Platesmasher · 21/08/2009 22:54

boden
previously recommended by thehairybabysmum.

I'm leaning towards this now.
Vintage or frumpy?

Platesmasher · 21/08/2009 22:55

I have purple wellies!

Platesmasher · 21/08/2009 23:05

or this?

Platesmasher · 21/08/2009 23:06

would be warmer for the outside stuff.

QuintessentialShadows · 21/08/2009 23:14

I agree with Heated suggestion of the julienmacdonald dress. It will go well with your hair colour and your wellies.

Platesmasher · 21/08/2009 23:18

too shiney QS.
am envisioning sitting round a campfire wondering if a stray spark could set fire to my dress in an instant.

QuintessentialShadows · 21/08/2009 23:23

It reminds me of a dress that I very nearly gave to flee market for charity once.

Let me tell you why I didnt.

Coming home from bbq-ing some salmon on the beach far out in the country side with a close male friend, I spotted the washing line of a lone house by the road.

I pinned the dress up on the washing line and left it there, for some strange country dweller to find amongst her undies and her towels the next morning.

Love the dress.

I wish I had seen that womans face when finding the dress.

It looks perfect for by a campfire. Especially with a big wool cardie.

QuintessentialShadows · 21/08/2009 23:27

sorry, my command of the english language has disintegrated into a bottle of chardonnay.

Good night.

Platesmasher · 21/08/2009 23:47

are you on about the shiney one or my new favourite wool one QS.
Also on the chardonnay. Cause it's friday.

Platesmasher · 21/08/2009 23:59

Now I realise I'm talking to myself now but what about this hat with this dress and a choice of purple spotted wellies, tan leather heeled boots or flat brown suede boots.

lowrib · 22/08/2009 02:03

Yup, love it with the hat.

Also FWIW I love the velvet dress. It isn't a usual wedding outfit, but then this isn't a usual wedding, that's the point isn't it?

I'm going to a similar sounding wedding in September (if I see someone in one of these outfits I'll say hi ) and I'm wearing a Monsoon dress with 50s style heels, and I'm taking a pair of flats in my bag for when I'm too pissed to walk walking about outside.

lowrib · 22/08/2009 02:14

How about one of these?

Debut Black & ivory applique prom dress

Purple blossom print occasion dress

Platesmasher · 22/08/2009 07:59

oh dear. i had too much wine and not enough people on my thread to tell me otherwise last night and have ordered the boden wool one. luckily did not order the beautiful but expensive hat but will look for something similar.

hope you're talking about the same wedding lowrib. that would be fun.

well at least while it's ordered i can stop fretting until i try it on.

lowrib · 22/08/2009 10:43

Actually, I know it's pricey, but that hat is fab, it'll really make the outfit wedding-y. Is there any way you could justify it? You could sell it on after maybe? Or wear it lots instead, it's brilliant.

Platesmasher · 23/08/2009 09:31

oh don't do that.
i love it too.
gah.

lowrib · 23/08/2009 10:17

Sorry

lowrib · 23/08/2009 10:56

I'll keep my eyes out for something similar and cheaper. When's the wedding?

Actually you've got me on one about hats now - so much so in fact that I've started a thread looking for a hat myself!

Platesmasher · 23/08/2009 14:39

similar and cheaper?

Platesmasher · 23/08/2009 14:53

oooh
