I think am adicted to this style forum! This time the question is:
If I have a gypsy skirt do I have to do the Victoria Beckham thing and wear it with a vest top (Bingo wings alert)
Any other ideas???

MUM SHAPED!!!! what shape is that. I am 35 nearly 36, by some of your reckonings I am past it. I am also mum shaped - a 14/16 and I am wearing a gypsy skirt. It is all about what style. There are some that flatter and some that make you look like the back of a bus. The slightly less full ones are better, with space between the flounces.

crunchie, I am about the same size as I was before the dds were born but I am a very different shape. Add my tummy that has seen two sections to my lopsided bfeeding boobs and I think mum-shaped is about as good a description as any! I make no judgement on whether anyone is 'past it' -past what???- but I know that I am too old for gypsy skirts, because I wore them when I was 18 and to wear them now would make me feel like I'm trying to be a teenager again, whereas in fact I want to look and feel like a woman. That is my opinion of how I feel about myself, not anyone else.

,I bo, ught my gypsy skirt from the heart appeal shop for £5, I find a simple stretchy t shirt in black for £2.50 in Primark goes great.Buy a 14 if you are 16,as they are very stretchy.I am 62 and keep myself young,so remember you are what you feel inside. Also H.M store have cheap sales on t shirts about £4.,they are sleeveless but NOT the vest adjustable ones .Also Asda have little cap sleeved ones.Good luck.

When I saw 'gypsy skirts' in the title I thought I must have entered into a time warp, and indeed I had!

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/08/2013 15:08

But the funny thing is I bought a white one in m&s recently and have worn it loads this summer.

I am nailing summer 2005.

dexter73 · 02/08/2013 15:47

Do you have a disc belt too MrsCB?!

SanityClause · 02/08/2013 15:50

My MIL wears this look - and has ever since I met her about 20 years ago.

She's 80.

2005? It's a much older look than that!

bruffin · 02/08/2013 15:59

Gypsy skirts were in fashion in the late 70s when I was in secondary school.

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/08/2013 16:05

Adds disc belt to shopping list Wink

goodasitgets · 02/08/2013 18:25

Oh dear. I still have two disc belts in the wardrobe Blush
