I am thinking of getting some Hunter wellies. Any opinions greatly appreciated...

I am bored of always wearing my walking boots when it's raining, and this means my walking boots only go with certain jeans (I.E not skinny)

Was thinking of getting some wellies, and Hunter ones look nice, and would look good with skinny jeans (or with any others tucked in, I mean, it is only walking in the rain, or the country FGS!)

Any opinions? Anyone has some? Or alternatives? I have skinny legs, so have to take that into account too.

Thanks

Personally I would stick to the original things, don't monkey around or else risk looking a bit funny. IYKWIM? They are country wellies and your supposed to look like they are just functional and very everyday whilst secretly you just wuv them to bits....

Get some silver ones. I'm lusting after some silver ones.

saw a girl with glossy, aubergine, patent ones at Gatcombe and they looked quite cheap!

saw the aubergine ones and they did catch my eye on the website.

I have also looked at the silver, and they did look nice, but am worried that if I did decide to wear with a skirt, the navy/dark green/grey may look better.

Can I add another vote for Le Chameaus instead? Mine have a proper sole and are much better for walking in. Some versions are very pricey, but I've just got the basic ones and they were on sale for £50 at a local shop.

I just love the funkiness of the hunters, think I will take the plunge. Still undecided on colour though! I think the aubergine....

Hunter Men's Balmoral II Side Wellington Boots - Dark Olive Size 8
Do not buy this product!
I write to express my utter dissatisfaction with the service I have received from Hunter.
I discovered a manufacturing defect to the right boot. The spilt is just above the support on the front of the boot and has occurred without any external influence. Boots less than 10 months old and have done light dog walking use only. Boots sent to Hunter and signed for via their return policy. Hunter suggested replacement were on the way to me. However, didn’t arrive and on further contact with Hunter was informed that my defected boots had “gone missing” in Hunters warehouse and without them Hunters could not replace or return them. Wrote to CEO but got no response! Both Boots and customer service worse than a wellie with a hole in it. Do not buy this product!

Zombie thread!

But no! They are shit, imo.

I have had 2 pairs and they have all split in the mid-sole, same for both my dc and my dh.

I replaced my last Hunters with Le Chameau and they are infinitely superior.

I have hunters. I have had them for about 6 years they are matt black. I think the shiny fashiony ones look a bit try hard. I'm very jealous of those with le chameau, I just don't get muddy enough to justify them!

Ooohh I'm thinking along the same lines... hunter wellies (I've been told are super comfy) or country boots from an equestrian shop. I want to have toastie feet but with grip, for walking and helping dd when she's riding (she only has lessons, no way could we afford a pony of her own). I have some walking boots but they look huge and I feel like sideshow bob

I have green ones and they are ace for dog walking. I would recommend the fleece liners to make them all toasty.

My old hunters lasted about 6 years. The ones I bought two years ago did not last a year. They are now made in China and the quality has seriously deteriorated.

Chameau all the way now, much better quality.

Sorry, but for daily wear Hunters are now very poorly made and rubbish quality. They used to last for years, but now leak after a very short time. I would always pay for Le Chameau over Hunter now and i always used to wear Hunter.

They are not of the high quality they used to be. Poor value imho. Look at the Amzon reviews. The verified customer ones.

I was bought a pair of purple hunters for Christmas a couple of years ago.
I wore them daily from dec til march, for a weekend festival in July and then when I got them out to wear in the Oct, they had a huge split across the side of the toes.
I called hunter hq and was told that couldnt do anything about it and that I had to return them to the shop from which they were purchased.
When I explained that they were given as a gift, were less than 12 months old and I didn't know where they had been bought from, hunter hq basically said that was tough luck, they still refused to repair or replace.
Shocking customer service and very poor quality wellies IMO.
