Will it make me look fat? Am I too old for it at 42?

Hmm. I'm not sure it's very weddingy. What will you wear it with? It looks short, is it? Have you got brilliant legs? Will they be bare?

What size and shape are you? What's your style/colour pref and budget?

Swedes · 27/07/2009 15:08

You are not too old for it, btw.

cornsillk · 27/07/2009 15:11

I was hoping it would be knee length on me as I'm 5'6'' and models are usually taller than that. Legs probably bare. It's for an evening thing only so will be dark hopefully - just want to get a new dress really!

For evening do def. Are you olive skinned or planning to fake bake, because it looks like you would struggle if you are pale and interesting.

Plainish shoes as well - let the dress make the statement.

T0SSER · 27/07/2009 19:32

Fab dress.

Will look great at an evening do.

wonderingwondering · 27/07/2009 19:39

I'm 5'6 and wear DvF. I think that dress will be above the knee - the description says it is, and one I bought recently was surprisingly short. But it is fab. I would def go for it, though with plain heels (black patent? Or nude like in the picture). You can get very, very thin stockings to give your legs a sheen, and if it is evening it won't show - will look like bare legs.

Def not too old, women of all ages buy DvF, is very flattering generally.

MerlinsBeard · 27/07/2009 19:42

models may not be much taller - the minimum height is 5'7" i think.

Lovely dress though

EldonAve · 27/07/2009 19:57

I think the pattern is quite unflattering with those white bits under the bust line

cornsillk · 27/07/2009 22:22

Thanks for the advice everyone. Think I'll order it and try it - can always send it back. (Thank the heavens for mastercard.)

You must wear feathers in your hair like the model in the video!

cornsillk · 28/07/2009 18:53

Unfortunately I've not been able to find any quite like them anywhere!

OP posts:
HeadFairy · 28/07/2009 18:55

DvF does come up quite short, I bought something from them and I'm 5'10" and it was waaaay too short. Was told on here by someone with far more knowledge than me that DvF always come up quite short as they usually design their clothes for a 5'4" size.

cornsillk · 28/07/2009 19:25

Yikes! May give it a miss the - short is not a good look on me.(sob)I'm going on hols soon so have been dithering over ordering something before or after in case it doesn't come on time. Think I may wait till after.

OP posts:
WesternBelle · 28/07/2009 19:58

It is vile, sorry. And it does not look like £278 worth of dress, you could do so much better.

TBH it looks like a Topshop/Dorothy Perkins sale rack item (a wierd & wacky design that wasn't a seller).

If you love DvF then This one would be a much better bet and a longer term investment too.

cornsillk · 28/07/2009 20:02

I don't know about that one.... thanks for the link though.

cornsillk · 28/07/2009 20:04

LyraSilvertongue · 28/07/2009 20:05

No, it looks like a beach dress. And it doesn't look pricey.
