Will it make me look fat? Am I too old for it at 42?

here is a lovely dress in a deep inky navy - the perfect dress for an evening wedding party

cornsillk · 28/07/2009 20:20

Aw fanx! That's quite nice actually. I didn't really know what to expect when I saw that the link was named 'Tara Tiered Prom Dress.' Am off to JL when DH gets in from his run do will seek it out.

I really like it! I was wandering home from work today, thinking I'd buy it for myself. Is quite different, I think in a good way, the prom dress is cute but not out of the ordinary

cornsillk · 28/07/2009 22:45

Saw the prom dress (or at least something vry similar) in JL - not as nice in RL. Do you like the orange dress then wondering?

Yes, I think it could look really striking with the right accessories. Much more interesting than a typical Coast wedding outfit. I have one winging its way to me as I type . Plus the red Freya dress, also in the sale.

I shall let you know what the orange lurex looks like!

cornsillk · 29/07/2009 10:22

How exciting!! I'm glad someone else likes it - makes me feel like a bit less of a hopeless style criminal.

Ah. That's a shame the froo froo dress wasn't as nice in the flesh. It often happens.

Whoever gets it first, could you please post a picture of yourself (face covered) so we can fully understand?

cornsillk · 29/07/2009 14:17

I've not ordered it yet swedes - am going to wait till after my hols I think (and till wonderingwondering reports back!)

Oh, the pressure is on. Can't promise a pic (thinking of the humiliation of posting a 'ta dah! look at my fab dress' pic and everyone disagreeing ).

But will report back in a day or two, when it arrives.

cornsillk · 30/07/2009 12:02

Has it arrived yet wondering.....?

It arrived today! Have been out tonight so got home to a lovely Matches box.

The dress is, unfortunately, going back. Is too big around the top, and the smaller size would be too small around the bottom. But it is a very, very nice dress - very eye catching, lovely heavy fabric, hangs well (not clingy around bum) and not too orange or spangly. Def needs heels, there's no way it would look good dressed down, flat shoes could tip it into frumpy beachwear on anyone over 25.

And it is short - OK if you have good knees, 2/3 of the way down my thigh, and I'm 5'6''. I think to do it justice you do need to be a bit curvier - I'm a size ten but pretty straight up and down.

I really liked it, worth a go. But I'm the wrong shape for it, as it's pretty unstructured. Go on cornsilk, give it a go...

cornsillk · 31/07/2009 00:34

Hello wondering! Well I'm 5'6'' and definitely curvy...am too old for a short dress though!!
