How many evening outfits do you take with you on a 2 week break?

Off to Greece on Monday.

Day time is always easy for me: 3 kaftans, 4 bikinis and a couple of sundresses where more covered up daytime dressing is required.

Trying not to overpack . I usually end up taking 7 evening outfits and wearing each one twice

I am taking two on my 3 week holiday.

I don't have seven!

IotasCat · 22/07/2009 20:16

None

I don't do dressing up holidays

Pennies · 22/07/2009 20:25

7 here.

diedandgonetodevon · 22/07/2009 20:27

14

more · 22/07/2009 20:27

One maybe, if there is space in the suitcase.

TrinityRhinoHasASillyStepson · 22/07/2009 20:29

I would take one maybe two

I'm guesing, I've never been on holiday

hf128219 · 22/07/2009 20:29

Probably 10.

mollyroger · 22/07/2009 20:29

my evening outfits consist of an extra jumper, a hat and perhaps the addition of a pair of long socks if I'm feeling extra saucy...

Can you tell we only go camping/festivals etc?

morningpaper · 22/07/2009 20:30

I take 3 evening outfits

By 'evening outfits' I mean pyjamas

LynetteScavo · 22/07/2009 20:31

Evening outfits on holidays?

Haven't done that since pre DC's, and probably wont again untill they leave home. LOL!

morningpaper · 22/07/2009 20:33

nor me Lynette

Tell me about what your EVENINGS involve?

So I can do this

IdrisTheDragon · 22/07/2009 20:33

Can't remember when I last took an evening outfit on holiday. Some time pre-children anyway.

Rachmumoftwo · 22/07/2009 20:50

I take 4 dresses that can be worn daytime or evening and a couple of pretty tops to wear with my cropped trousers. A pretty necklaces lipgloss, mascara and tinted moisturiser and I am as glam as I get on holiday!

hf128219 · 22/07/2009 20:56

Going out to dinner/for a drink in a swanky restaurant/bar. Gotta look your best!

shouldweorshouldntwe · 22/07/2009 20:57

Wouldnt dream of taking an 'evening outfit' (whatever that might be) on holiday!

Ceebee74 · 22/07/2009 21:00

Pre-DC I used to take 14 - I would have 7 skirts and then 14 tops (and about 5 pairs of 'evening' sandals)....but in my defence, I used to wear quite short skirts which didn't take up much room in the suitcase and I am a complete clothesaholic.

Haven't been on holiday since having DS1 3 years ago but feel that if we did, I would have to curtail this a little!!

KristinaM · 22/07/2009 21:06

4 tops and 2 bottoms

some nice earrings / necklaces

coulndt one of your sundresses do double duty with a pair of heels?

or a kaftan and some leggings?

CHOOGIRL · 22/07/2009 21:09

14 + shoes + a couple of lunch outfits just in case. I am a virgo and like to be prepared

morningpaper · 22/07/2009 21:17

At what stage in my parenting life can I expect to require an "evening outfit" again?

LynetteScavo · 22/07/2009 21:19

When your DC's go to Uni.

morningpaper · 22/07/2009 21:20

That IS what I'm expecting

Perhaps I am confused by the posting-on-mumsnet element of the situation

janeite · 22/07/2009 21:22

We had two weeks in Greece last summer and I took six. One skirt remained unworn because I decided linen was too itchy.

Have a lovely time!

CHOOGIRL · 22/07/2009 21:32

My DD is 3 and I still have evening outfits. She has evening outfits too although not 14 of them .

hf128219 · 22/07/2009 21:35

My dd is only 18 months so pretty portable at the mo. Maybe I better save for a holiday nanny!

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 22/07/2009 21:43

Thanks for replies

When I say "evening outfits" I mean something a little more dressy than daytime. I don't do heels on holiday (altho I always end up with a pair of strappy gold heels in my case which were useful in swanky Sardinian hotel with tres chic Italian ladies everywhere last year but didn't see light of day during recent week long sojourn to Skiathos with sisters).

My DCs are 5 and 9 and most evenings we go out to dinner as a family. On those evenings, I think its nice to make an effort but not tarted up. Think silk dress, strappy flat sandals rather than mini skirt and heels

We also do a couple of evenings of picnic and cricket on the beach so no special outfit required.

If we are lucky, we manage to bag a sitter for one evening so slightly more sexy "seduce DH cos its our holidays" outfit required .

Thanks anyway
