i like leggings

maybe the style police will shoot me. but i like leggings. if you have nice legs, which are easily acheivable, if you do a minimal amount of excercies, then they look good with a longish t shirt, or short mini dress.
and they are a lot more comfortable than jeans, or shorts, or skirts.

I suppose they can sometimes work in a footless tights sort of way. Only if worn under a very long tunic or dress though.

southeastastra · 11/07/2009 13:28

nah boring

noddyholder · 11/07/2009 13:29

I think they can look nice if they are quite sheer like mrs sb says in a footless tights way with a really nice dress. But as an alternative to trousers unless you have a perfect body they look horrendous.

mrsmaidamess · 11/07/2009 13:31

I have a less than perfect body but good legs. And leggings have added to my wardrobe more combinations to outfits than trousers would. Altho they are becoming ubiquitous.

Lulumama · 11/07/2009 13:33

i swore never to wear them as i am on the porky side, although legs are pretty decent , but after 80s party debacle with leggings, i said never again

however, have rececntly rediscovered them

with shirt dress or a long tunic, i look slimmer in leggings than jeans.

but never without something covering bum, hips and thighs

mrsmaidamess · 11/07/2009 13:35

Yes always keep rump covered

noddyholder · 11/07/2009 13:35

farm4.static.flickr.com/3554/3480767049_154dfd33a4.jpg Nice quite elegant

Lulumama · 11/07/2009 13:36

oh, i like that look, noddy!

noddyholder · 11/07/2009 13:42

They are pretty instead of tights.

mrsmaidamess · 11/07/2009 13:43

Oh lord every teenage girl where I live has those feet missing tights on. Its a bit hot for that non? better in autumn.

Lulumama · 11/07/2009 13:46

not seen them before.

Simples · 11/07/2009 13:47

I do think they are odd on a sumers day though.

and relentless somwwhat

mrsmaidamess · 11/07/2009 13:51

noddy what did you type into get that picture?

noddyholder · 11/07/2009 13:52

I have some very fine ones with the toes and heels cut out in black and a dark aubergine pair.Lovely with floaty dress and heels.I wish I could wear the leggings as trousers but although I have good legs I wore them last time round and think they look terrible unless v toned.maybe ok in wither with longish jumper and long boots

noddyholder · 11/07/2009 13:52

winter

paisleyleaf · 11/07/2009 13:57

I've been umming and ahhing about footless tights recently
I got some knee high boots last autumn and rediscovered a load of clothes (knee length skirts and dresses) that I couldn't wear before - but looked good with the boots.
I've been wondering if footless tights would do the same for me....or if I'm barking up the wrong tree.
I see them looking bad more often than good - like women have forgotten to put their skirt/dress on and are just in a top/tshirt with the leggings.
And I don't really have a dancer's physique.

Simples · 11/07/2009 14:47

i dont like the footy ones with glads

v odd

mrsmaidamess · 11/07/2009 15:44

I think they only work with Dolly shoes

mumofmaniacs · 11/07/2009 15:46

cheesesarnie · 11/07/2009 15:50

i finally decided to try leggings not so long ago and was suprised at how nice they look.you can still look smart in leggings.and they are very comfy!defiantly only to be worn with something to cover your bum though!

brimfull · 11/07/2009 15:56

i like leggins to just below knee with tuunic

i am alas too old i think to pull it off

mrsmaidamess · 11/07/2009 15:57

brimfull · 11/07/2009 15:57

mrsmaidamess · 11/07/2009 16:21

I repeat, nonsense.

MrsMcCluskey · 11/07/2009 16:34

I really dont have the besst legs
but recently took the leggings plunge and wa pleasantly surprised
at how slimming they are
I have a fine 3/4 lenght pair that i wore with a tunic style dress and ballet pumps I thought I looked quite 'hip'
Do poeople still use that word 'hip'??!
