What make up do you hate?

I loathe the thickening mascaras which are advertised all over the place. I tried one which consisted of white undercoat (to thicken) and black mascara to put on top. It makes my eyelashes look like pertrified spiders. It is horrible and takes an age to take off, and is all fibrous and yucky. I now resort to cheap and cheerful plain non-thickening or lengthening mascara - is so much better.

Also have tried Loreal Minerals powder - it is useless. Goes on patchy and strangely coloured.

Bronzer! I am just too pale and it makes me look like a 5 year old who has been playing with Mummy's make up! hee hee!

I hate lipliner, the lipstick always fades and you are left with a hideous line.

Also hate pressed powder/ powder blusher. So aging.

Oh and eyebrow pencils, never look realistic.

Jewelsandgems · 04/06/2009 13:38

Love blusher but only creme or liquid. Powder blusher is awful - I really don't see why people bother with it at all!

I love liquid eyeliner, but not black flicky type for daywear. It's like 'you have too much make up on!'

Not a fan of lipstick, prefer lip balm.

Love eyebrow pencil though (but mine is a very pale brown by clinique, and I feather it on it little strokes) us over 30s aparently need to have thicker eyebrows to frame our eyes better - and it works!

lou33 · 04/06/2009 13:41

tdwp, i put lipliner over all my lips as an extra base which avoids the hideous line

Maveta · 04/06/2009 13:54

fake tan. I smelt of cookie dough and not in a good way. And I smell it on other people too.. it's that fake tan smell.

Lipstick. I so want to be able to wear it but I just can't, it does nothing for me. Except regularly give me cold sores (yes, brand new ones) and dry lips. Not a good look.

I put on the lightest sweep of blush and it makes such a difference. Anymore and I look like Baby Jane but without I look dead. It's a fine line.

Bronzer! so agree with bronzer. It is laughable.

Can I ask other people about mineral foundations, once tried Avon mineral foundation and it felt incredibly drying, do other people find that? I think lipstick makes me look like a frog.

KingRolo · 04/06/2009 19:13

I tried my mineral foundation again today but no matter what I did it still made me look like a dead clown. I swirled it in circles and everything but it just will not work for me. I threw it in the bin in the end and went back to my lovely liquid foundation that I have used for years.

mrsmaidamess · 04/06/2009 19:24

Mineral will look patchy if you apply too soon after moisturiser. I love mine.

ThePhantomPlopper · 04/06/2009 20:19

I have dry skin and mineral foundation is fine on me surprisingly.

catinthehat2 · 04/06/2009 20:27

MIneral foundation makes my skin flare up. I had to get some oinkment from the docs to make the redness go away.

It is the work of the devil.

catinthehat2 · 04/06/2009 20:30

and Lash Architect mascara.

I do not like picking chunks of lampblack off my cheeks, contact lenses, eyelids, cats, computer keyboard etc etc.

I do not think this is cool enough for me.

catinthehat2 · 04/06/2009 20:33

and and and Clinique pressed powder eyeshadow.

I resent the fact that after he first few goes it becomes SO pressed you can't lift any product off the little tablet unless you scrape it with your claws fingernail
