What make up do you hate?

I loathe the thickening mascaras which are advertised all over the place. I tried one which consisted of white undercoat (to thicken) and black mascara to put on top. It makes my eyelashes look like pertrified spiders. It is horrible and takes an age to take off, and is all fibrous and yucky. I now resort to cheap and cheerful plain non-thickening or lengthening mascara - is so much better.

Also have tried Loreal Minerals powder - it is useless. Goes on patchy and strangely coloured.

What make up do you hate?

I dislike too much 'gleamy' highlighter like on Kate Beckinsale and SJP - it draws attention to the fact you're not as young as you were and makes skinnny people look all 'skull-like'.

I loathes bronzing powder on me as I'm very pale and it just looks like I need a good scrub.

I dont like lip liner that is an obvious different colour to the lip colour.

Any cover up in 'stick' form. Always makes skin under eyes go scaly and dry. I always use concealer that is of liquid consistency like Estee Lauder one.

I hate pinkish, purple or bronzey eyeshadow.

Don't like bronzer.

I hate the look of lots of pale foundation, powder, crimson lipstick and no eye makeup. It NEVER looks good.

Also, dark lipstick on thin lips.

Blusher. Can't see the point.

Maybelline. Cheap, badly packaged shite that looks awful.

SusieDerkins, I was another blush-shunner until a couple of years ago when someone showed me how to apply it properly and I realised that it made me look warm and healthy instead of doll-faced/Alexis Colby.

Oh yes Maybelline mousse blusher. It is like taramasalata. I gave mine to dd (actually she is a repository for all my crap make up purchases)

That hideous pink and green tube of mascara that everyone apparently swears by...I swore too, it made my eyelashes fall out.

Lipstick.

Can't stand the feel of it on my lips and it always looks too obvious on me somehow. Not that keen on gloss either but do wear it sometimes.

I swear by carmex though

That woman on the Apprentice, can't remember her name, the older one who Margaret said was Cassandra: she is the perfect example of how now to wear lipstick. She looks worse with it on!

lol Mintyy yes, when she comes in at the end with her bright red lippy on. She looks like a 30's screen vamo gone to seed.

Look, Lorraine, don't waste your money on lipstick, buy some shampoo

I wonder if Lorraine is doing the 'no poo' thing? It's the only possible explanation for going on nation television with such a greasy mop.

I don't like Rimmel lipsticks they taste funny. And smell.

I hate lip gloss. Always ends up with my hair getting stuck to it and me having a hissy fit at myself.

I think all of the Apprentice girls this year have some serious make-up issues. Would also like to add Yasmina in the queue for a shampoo

Also hate almost all foundationd except benefit some kinda gorgeous.

I hate my Boots No 7 Powder blush. It is impossible to get the right amount on your brush, so you either end up putting loads on and looking like a clown or not enough to even notice. I hate hate hate it. In fact, I'm off to get a replacement right now.

Oh, I love mineral foundation.
Not a fan of bronzer. I agree touche eclat's a bit of a rip off and can look a bit cakey. Actually, I think the product is ok it's the applicator which is rubbish. Lovely shiny packaging but really unhygenic and goes smelly really quickly (there was a thread on this recently).

I hate fake tan, I prefer to be pale and interesting.

I don't like coloured nail varnish on my finger nails, it makes my fingers look short and stumpy. I wear it on my toes though.

I don't like it when people just put foundation on and nothing else, why would you so that? And just fake tan or too much fake tan and bronzer and then really white hands...it just makes people look dirty. I do wonder what these people see when they look in the mirror.
