What shoes/boots/trainers/sandals do you wear? and with what? (style, make, that kind of thing).

I need some more shoes, and have no inspiration. My brain has just stopped working.

Inspire me please

at lulumama's Russell & Bromley wedges.

I wear high heels of various descriptions to work. Some platform high heels (love 'em).

I have got some bright pink high heeled peep toed slingback platforms from LK Bennett at the weekend and I keep looking at them in their box in manner of proud mother looking at her newborn in a moses basket (yes I know I am a twat )

Various ballet pumps for weekend, some with jewels on.

A pair of sky high beige sandals with wooden platform soles, which I adore but are so heavy and clompy I hardly ever wear them, plus keep on kicking my own ankle (ouch) whilst wearing them which is so not a good look.

pavlovthecat · 27/05/2009 20:18

coco - that was my concern but the no socks bit...makes me a bit if worn in the summer!

so far then, no high heels unless wedges?

(going to sneak a look at R&B wedges, stealing DHs bank card

Lyra - superdry converse stylie shoes are lovely, far far more comfortable than converse (they have a softer insole), I have got a grey pair.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/05/2009 20:21

Susst
Uggs
Superdry Japan

weepootle · 27/05/2009 20:21

The outfit you described sounds perfect- converse will look fab with that, you will look effortlessly stylish.

The no-socks rule only applys if you wear them with shorts. I always wear socks with mine when I have my jeans on.

weepootle · 27/05/2009 20:21

Just thin black cotton socks.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/05/2009 20:22

Getorfmoiland, I just ordered the dark grey with yellow trim. Beautiful. Much nicer than Converse.

Grattage · 27/05/2009 20:25

Uggs are terrible

pavlovthecat · 27/05/2009 20:26

I like the superdry ones, but not the susst, they are a bit too clumpy for me.

OP posts:
cocolepew · 27/05/2009 20:26

Maybe you could wear the trainer socks, but you can throw Converse in the washing machine.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/05/2009 20:27

Grattage, not my Uggs.
Pavlov, no they're not to everyone's taste. Just my kind of thing though.

pavlovthecat · 27/05/2009 20:29

so would it be really uncool to like the converse boots i would probably not wear shorts this summer, as I am pg, but would wear dresses and will get some sandals or something for those.

OP posts:
weepootle · 27/05/2009 20:31

If you're only wearing them with jeans then it doesn't really matter whether it's hi-tops or lo-tops.

mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 20:35

I wear wedges with dresses usually

Flat shoes ( inc. converse) with wide legged trews for work

Wooden platforms, skinnies and a Demis Rousos tunic with sequins on.

Oh I forgot my gold gladiator style flats from Monsoon, which I LURVE. I wear them with EVERYTHING.

mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 20:35

And I think high heels are fine if they are platform soled too.

MummyAnnabella · 27/05/2009 20:39

these are the most amazing shoes you will ever buy

can wear with jeans
trousers
day dresses
skirts

are heels but comfy

i get compliments on mine every time i wear them and i wear these or wedges every day

pavlovthecat · 27/05/2009 20:42

Oh I am not sure about those mummyannabella - but they are the right height for me, I am short!

these are the closest to the shoes I have, but without the bar, and a little leather bow instead, and which I absolutely love to bits. But they are the only girly shoes I own .

pavlovthecat · 27/05/2009 20:43

well not technically true, I have a fab pair of stilletto sandals from dune as well, but they are too high for me now!

OP posts:
MummyAnnabella · 27/05/2009 20:50

too high for you now??!! did you grow???

seriously i insist you try them on and you will buy them! my sister got them and then i did and so many people i know love them as you really can wear all day as so comfy. is it the height that puts you off??

MadameCastafiore · 27/05/2009 20:50

MummyAnnabella - was awaiting my browser to open up on some spectacular shoes and I have to say they are the most vile, ugly things I have ever seen - even DD wouldn;t be seen dead in those and at 8 years old she would wear wellies with a heel superglued on! Bleugh!!

I wear Birkenstomps (as DS calls them - have 14 pairs as had to get rid of a few lately due to smellage!), silver leather lace up pumps from Boden, White converse or plaited sandals which I bought from The Whote Company a few years ago.

Winter - Boden knee high black boots (sort of riding ones), again the same boots but in brown, timberlands for walking the dog and some knee high boots from Next that are ugly but I am allergic to Latex so wellies are a no no.

Oh - did you all know they are opening a superdry at Bluewater - I thought it was a hairdressers or something!

LyraSilvertongue · 27/05/2009 20:53

Sorry, I hate them too Mummyannabella. But then I'm not really into girly shoes.

pavlovthecat · 27/05/2009 21:01

I wish I had grown - I am pregnant, and I will fall over if i wear stilettos right now, they are 4 inches high!!! But they are fab so when baby is born they will come out again.

I have just found www.shoe-envy.co.uk/Fly_London_Boots_and_Fly_London_Shoes this site]] and there are some great shoes! I am loving the Fly London stuff, really think I can get something to make me feel a bit more fashionable without breaking my neck right now!

So the must haves seem to be:

flip flops such as birkenstock type affairs
converse/superdry or similar type pumps
wedges of some kind
Boots for winter
peep toes or similar for evening wear

(Aside from this shoe thing, another fashion type thing...just bought a pair of Citizens of Humanity maternity trousers on ebay for £35, is that good?)

i have nude platform high heels which are amazing for wearing with dresses as legs look muchos longer.

khaki suede ankle boots for everyday with jeans etc.

knee length tan or black vintage look boots for going somewhere bit nicer.

flip flops for flopping.

trainers for power pram walking.

medium high gladiators sandals for nice weather.

if it's casual you want, 'superga' are nice and not as obvious as converse... navy or white
