Me neither, I know my family would keep saying my nappy needed changing...
There are some lovely ones in Zara if you're up for mrs m!

mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 19:23

Well even M&S have jump on the Harem bandwagon. I saw a girl wearing some the other day with a slouchy blazer and I have to say she loooked good.

They had some on a model in the Toast catalogue (under a lovely dress) and they looked really nice (on her).

Bellebelle · 27/05/2009 19:33

Saw some in Zara yesterday and unsettling enough I was quite drawn to them. Took me about 2 years to give in to leggings though so doubt I'll be buying them any time soon. Also agree it isn't worth the ridicule from DH, definitely a fashion which men don't 'get'

pointydog · 27/05/2009 19:34

nooooo! Horrendous

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/05/2009 19:36

I have got a harem-trousered jumpsuit (don't laugh). It is black silk and is very very nice, surprisingly flattering. Have to wear sky high heels with it though or it would look like hammer time.

TrillianAstra · 27/05/2009 19:37

Link to precisely what this is please?

I think I want to go 'eurgh' but need to check.

mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 19:38

ok hang on

OP posts:
mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 19:39

marks manage to make them look like a saggy grey nappy, of course

OP posts:
brimfull · 27/05/2009 19:39

gok says they are good for pear shapes which surprised me

I had a pair in the 80's

mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 19:40

dressier version

mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 19:40

gg I never did. Did I miss out?

OP posts:
GetOrfMoiLand · 27/05/2009 19:40

these are the ones I have got

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/05/2009 19:42

mrsmaidemess - those first grey marks ones look like jogging bottoms which have gone bagy in the wash!

mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 19:42

what do you wear over them?

OP posts:
mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 19:43

I know, marks always get it slightly wrong don't they

OP posts:
womma · 27/05/2009 19:43

Bellebelle, the Zara ones are really nice aren't they? The idea of fashion men don't get is hilarious, I have 3 DBs and DH has two, so choosing something to wear to a family do is a nightmare. Harem pants, puffball skirts etc, you have to have a thick skin when there's a man about I tell ya!

brimfull · 27/05/2009 19:44

I had a harem jumpsuit like this as well arf

TrillianAstra · 27/05/2009 20:01

Definitely eurgh if it's the dropped-crotch trouser style.

Not so bad if I could try to look like Jasmine in Aladdin.

mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 20:06

gg that's haremtastic

OP posts:
DarrellRivers · 27/05/2009 20:08

I'm dying to get some
Waiting for our new H+M to open soon
Bet they'll do the trend better than M+S

mrsmaidamess · 27/05/2009 20:12

Without a doubt

fishie · 27/05/2009 20:13

gg i was really disappointed when gok said that. i have been secretly hankering for a pair but am an apple and suspect this would be disastrous.

TheBolter · 27/05/2009 20:22

No, not yet. I remember laughing at them in the eighties so I'd feel a bit of a dick poncing about in them now.

It's funny how many fashionable things look nobbish to begin with, then somehow they seem to worm their way into the national psyche, (you know when M&S start selling them that we've all finally been drawn in). I remember thinking circa 1999 that Sarah Cox and Zoe Ball looked bloody ridiculous when photographed on a night out with jeans tucked into their knee high boots, fast forward ten years and we're all at it with gay abandon parading about like Dick Whittington.

It's like cars, eg the Ford Ka - they look all hideous to begin with then before you know it they look so dated. Can't get my head round the Fiat Multipla still, that really is an ugly vehicle, but still... harem pants? I'll probably be rocking them soon, just give me a few months to hide all our cameras.

brimfull · 27/05/2009 21:02

oh yes we'll all be in sitting mnetting in harem pants and jumpsuits
