Its going to be a registry office with only a few people there but we are still dressing up a bit iyswim.

any other dress suggestions very gratefully received - I'm 5,7 and a size 8 but with a waist and hips so not straight up and down. I dont really want to go long or fluffy or embroidered...

I think I like the grey one best but am a bit worried about what I would wear with it - am not really a shrug sort of person - am more of a converse/skinny jeans sort of girl...help...

The middle one, definitely

giantkatestacks · 11/05/2009 14:02

not too wedding dressy for a registry office with 3 people there? I like it but dont want to look ridiculous - do people get dressed up if they are having a tiny wedding?

rubyslippers · 11/05/2009 14:02

they are all quite different

i prefer the prom dress as it looks more bridal - it is pretty without being girly

the grey one is very foxy - and maybe more for a cocktail do than a wedding BUT if that is the one you like best and will be most comfortable in then go for that one

traceybath · 11/05/2009 14:02

None of them i'm afraid.

The grey one would be nice for a winter cocktail thing but is just a bit too wintery - well unless you're getting married later this year.

The middle one too fancy/fluffy.

The last one - the material looked a little cheap.

Have you tried karen millen/coast/monsoon?

rubyslippers · 11/05/2009 14:05

oh yes - people wear the full on frockage even if the do is small

Tortington · 11/05/2009 14:05

1st slutty

second for a 16 yo

third for clubbing

i see no mariage dresses here sorry

becklespeckle · 11/05/2009 14:08

I love dress number 2, I think its funky and wedding-y all in one go. What time of the year are you getting married? Not sure I'd put anything with it - maybe a nice cream or bright coloured cardi with short puff sleeves or something similar shape to this to have with you just in case it gets chilly?

becklespeckle · 11/05/2009 14:10

Oh, and it doesn't matter how many people will be there, if you want a posh frock then wear one (I would!)!

traceybath · 11/05/2009 14:11

a bit different but pretty

FairyLightsForever · 11/05/2009 14:12

Of course you should dress up, it's your wedding day! Out of the three, I like the grey one best.

traceybath · 11/05/2009 14:13

this is much nicer in the flesh and comes with gorgeous jacket

rubyslippers · 11/05/2009 14:14

that tunic is pretty

not sure about the LK Bennet one - looks really insipid

giantkatestacks · 11/05/2009 14:15

sigh...I have had a look at monsoon but they all look a bit surrey wedding at a golf club for me - they had a nice short dress in their bridal collection but it was £250...

will have a look at coast...

also quite like this...

www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_18987_1054821_-1

and i could wear it afterwards...

traceybath, that Monsoon one is lovely too!

Lizzylou · 11/05/2009 14:15

I like that one Traceybath, the bridesmaid dresses in Monsoon are nice too:
Here

and here

A cross between all 3 of your choices

Marthasmama · 11/05/2009 14:15

I was going to suggest Monsoon. Long doesn't have to be fussy and girly if that's what you're looking to avoid. This is gorgeous and not fussy.

giantkatestacks · 11/05/2009 14:19

those last 2 are nice lizzylou - thanks...

The tunic from monsoon is very pretty but am needing more of a waist I think...

I actually really like the cream one and think its perfect for a simple registry office do. I got married (1st time around) in a similar one to the purple one, although it was longer, same colour and have always regretted not wearing cream as i don't look very bridal in the photos...

Have you asked your H2B what he expects (wrong word, but can't think of another) you to wear? Is he a traditionalist when it comes to wedding attire? Have you asked him?

OrmIrian · 11/05/2009 14:20

Oooh

Some lovely dresses here for someone who is a size 8

I quite like the grey one you initially linked to. But I also like traceybath's examples to. Love the wysteria dress particularly.

traceybath · 11/05/2009 14:23

ooh this is pretty

Marthasmama · 11/05/2009 14:25

Oooo yes tracey that is very pretty and available in a size 8.......

muddleduck · 11/05/2009 14:25

I really like your second one.
It has enough to make you look like a bride but is a bit more fun that the the standard bridal stuff.
The other posters have some nice suggestions but I'd stick with this if I were you.

traceybath · 11/05/2009 14:26

Honestly at 5ft 7 and a size 8 you're going to look fab in whatever you wear.

Warehouse had got some nice stuff in when i walked past the other day - but i find their website a bit rubbish.

SoupDragon · 11/05/2009 14:33

I like this
