Random Question - Where in the UK do you find best for shopping?

If you could go anywhere in the UK for a shopping trip (clothes and household treats), where would you or do you go? ie town/city or shopping centre?

We are talking one of those mega shopping destinations when you end up walking back to the car/train with several bags on each arm and an empty purse!

Selfridges in Oxford Street. I once spent nine hours there. Or if you want shopping centre Westfield is not bad. Has high end plus the major chains. They will also carry your bags for you.

Amandoh · 09/05/2009 20:58

Another vote here for Westfield.

feedthegoat · 09/05/2009 21:00

Manchester (city centre, I'm not keen on Trafford Centre though haven't been for years) .

hannahsaunt · 09/05/2009 21:25

Edinburgh - everywhere bar Princes Street and esp West End side streets/Stockbridge.

duckyfuzz · 09/05/2009 21:29

I like city centres - edinburgh, manchester, leeds, newcastle, bath all nice

yunyun · 09/05/2009 23:06

Oxford Street, came home today with armfuls of bags

EldonAve · 10/05/2009 10:24

I would probably go to Bluewater (never been) or MerryHill in Sheffield

I was disappointed with Westfield

LetThemEatCake · 10/05/2009 10:39

Westfield is fantastic.

Bluewater is okay but not as much high-end choice as Westfield. It's Blu'wa'er innit??

naomi83 · 10/05/2009 10:46

Manchester city centre is great-everything from primark nd TK Max through zara and topshop to selfridges and the shops in the triangle

EldonAve · 10/05/2009 10:47

If you want high end just do Bond St

hf128219 · 10/05/2009 10:48

Glasgow is good.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 10/05/2009 10:50

Glasgow or Edinburgh

nevergoogledragonbutter · 10/05/2009 10:51

Can't wait to be back in scotland for those places to be my shopping trip days out!

hf128219 · 10/05/2009 10:52

Glasgow's better!

nevergoogledragonbutter · 10/05/2009 10:55

I remember liking glasgow better. Don't know what's changed in 10 years though.

LetThemEatCake · 10/05/2009 10:57

"If you want high end just do Bond St"

er, yes, you could - but who's to say that you JUST want high-end??
the most stylish people are the ones who mix it up a bit, I reckon.

Besides, Westfield has parking. And toilets. And is child-friendly. And Australian.

PuppyMonkey · 10/05/2009 10:58

I've always Liked Nottingham best but that's cos I grew up here. Also like Leeds. And Westfield in Derby, wouldn't go anywhere near London. Too many people.

LetThemEatCake · 10/05/2009 11:00

haven't been for a few years, but Bath was nice when I went.

t'inernet's my favourite place to shop, tbh.

savoycabbage · 10/05/2009 11:03

Newcastle. Fantastic city centre. Fenwicks. And then you can pop over the river to the Metrocentre.

LuluLulabelleWantsANewName · 10/05/2009 11:25

Liverpool, nice new shopping area called Liverpool One.

Manchester and Leeds also get my vote (in that order).

Leeds City Centre.

lambanana · 10/05/2009 14:50

Liverpool One
Trafford Centre, Manchester
Glasgow
Leeds
London

In that order!

MrsSeanBean · 10/05/2009 16:02

A combination of Cribbs Causeway (free parking, convenience and a nice M&S deli cafe) and Cheltenham (nice 'feel' and good Hobbs).

And I guess Bond Street if money really no object!

BobtheWoodmouse · 10/05/2009 17:14

I like London best:

Selfridges, Primark on Oxford st, then New Bond St and Mount St. Also Uniqlo, Cos, Banana Rep etc on Regent St. Then to Knightsbridge for Harvey Nicks and Sloane St and Horrids Harrods.

Then I like Manchester city centre.

Then Trafford Centre but will often spend the entire time in Selfridges and really appreciate the free parking after spending nearly 20 pounds in Mancheter city centre car park recently.

Haven't been to Westfield yet but I suspect I would love it.
