Those of you that do your make up every day - what do you put on?

I have promised myself that I will start looking after myself a bit more after having DC no 3. So I am now using the oil cleansing method which seems to be working (early days though).

I would quite like to start wearing a bit of slap but not really sure where to start what to put on. I have fair skin and fair hair. Any tips? Any good brands?

Feel a trip to town coming on! Might try the body shop vit e foundation (have never ever ever worn foundation!)

The bourjois blusher sounds lovely too! (Again, never worn blusher!)

Will invest in a brown mascara rather than black!

How about lip colour? Just a lip gloss enough?

Most days I apply -

Clinique Almost Makeup Foundation
Clinique Pressed Powder
Max Factor Black Mascara
Benetint to my lips

I have no idea how to apply eyeliner
I would quite like to try it because I imagine it will make quite a difference.

I'm also a bit clueless about eye shadow...if I have time I sometimes apply a Clinique trio type one, not sure of the shades.
I dont reapply anything during the day so by the afternoon you cant really tell that I ve had any make up on!

MayorNaze · 27/04/2009 13:22

either bobbi brown concealor by itself or with foundation - this is fab - i am dark, but pale and this does not make me look even a teensy bit orange

mascara - some kind of avon one at the mo

sometimes cream blush - an ancicent red on efrom boots natural collection

always, even if no other slap, lipbalm and/r clear/slightly tinted lipgloss

am an oil cleansing fan too

slug · 27/04/2009 13:23

If you can't do eyeliner, try getting one of those flat, blunt edged brushes like this one and using a dark eyeshadow to create the line. A makeup lady in a shop showed me how to do it and it was a revelation.

Idranktheeasterspirits · 27/04/2009 13:30

For lip gloss try smashbox o plump. It matches your skin tone as you blend it. So it is a pinky colour that goes darker or lighter according to your skin tone.

You can get it on e bay for about £9.

Wear creme blush at it gives afresher look than powder.

Tesco make up range is good for basics.
If you have a bigger budget and are near a branch of spaceNK then you could go in and get them to show you some different things. Laura Mercier for example has a fab tinted moisturiser for about £32.

traceybath · 27/04/2009 13:34

Foundation - bobbi brown at the moment but usually vitalumiere
Blusher - nars orgasm
Mascara
Lip balm and then lip gloss

Takes all of 3 minutes and i curl eyelashes before putting on mascara.

19fran76 · 27/04/2009 13:45

I spent 5 minutes doing my make up, if that. Well worth it for the visual/psychological boost!

Foundation - Chanel Teint Innocence - indulgent but featherlight & better by far than any budget buys I've settled for at times.

Mascara - I'm a big Max Factor fan - v. effective at a reasonable price.

Blush - Really lifts a tired face! Currently using a Nars powder blush (they have great colours).

Lipgloss - Like Lancome, will last for ages.

Megglevache · 27/04/2009 13:50

Vitalumiere, careful that is the make up equivilent of crack you know!

FrankMustard · 27/04/2009 13:52

mascara every day - and sometimes a lip stain if I'm looking particularly pale!

higgle · 27/04/2009 16:28

Stila foundation, clinique cream blusher, bodyshop eyeshadow x 3, Elizabeth Arden gel eyeliner, mascara, no 7 lip pencil, clinique lip gloss.

chanelcandy · 27/04/2009 16:45

Vitalumiere foundation
Mac concealer for round my eyes
Guerlain bronzer
Mac blusher
No7 Highlighter
Lancome Hypnose mascara
Mac lipliner and lipstick, can't remember the names but a kind of purplish colour.

I revamped myself at the start of the year and all this stuff has made a huge difference!

boredwithmyoldname · 27/04/2009 16:50

always mascara
usually concealer/foundation
often eyeliner
always vaseline lip balm

that's enough to feel fresh and having made an effort

lipstick sometimes
never eyeshadow or brow pencil, cannot imagine
blusher if it's special

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/04/2009 17:11

Work face:

Foundation (Estee Lauder double wear, mixed with Radiance Balm, it's too thick to wear on its own)
Under eye concealer (Touche veloute by By Terry)
Eyebrow shadow - never use a pencil otherwise I look like a baddy from a 30's film
Eyeshadow - usually Urban Decay or No 7
Eyeliner - liquid eyeliner in either grey, black, teal green, purple or bronzey brown
Blusher - Tesco cream blush
Mascara - any old rubbish, currently Cosmetic 2000
Lipgloss - Molton Brown Vitamin Lipsheer, never wear lipstick as it looks to lipsticky, wear very sheer glosses.

Going out face:

As above but shimmery foundation and bronzer, probably take more time on eyes.

Dossing around face:

under eye concealer, mascara, bronzer, lipgloss.

The work face looks a lot but takes about 5 mins to put on. All in all it takes me about 20 minutes to get ready in the morning, that includes showering, washing hair and blow drying it, make up, frantically ironing a top (usually) and eating breakfast.

claireybee · 27/04/2009 17:14

Usually foundation with a teeny bit of powder on top
Concealer
Mascara

Sometimes skip the foundation

Sometimes wear blush and more eye makeup but not often

I have always hated lipstick and sticky lip glosses, lip balm is a must though

MadamAnt · 27/04/2009 17:19

Foundation
Concealer
EYebrow pencil
Cream eyeshadow
Mascara
Cream blusher
Lip balm

(all to achieve an "au naturel" look )

steamedtreaclesponge · 27/04/2009 17:20

In winter:

Laura Mercier foundation primer
Laura Mercier creme foundation
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage
Laura Mercier mineral powder
Laura Mercier eye base
No. 7 eyebrow pencil
Mac blusher
Laura Mercier cake eyeliner
Laura Mercier/Mac/Bobbi Brown eyeshadow
Yves Saint Laurent/Maybelline mascara
Lip balm or Mac lipstick

In summer: the same but minus the primer/foundation/powder - I just wear tinted moisturiser instead, with a bit of Tesco bronzer.

Going out - add a lot of Barry M bright eyeshadow, some fake eyelashes, some Mac lip gloss and Barbara Daly at Tesco highlighter.

Have realised that this looks like a lot but I don't look caked, promise! I do have quite crap skin (old acne scars, red marks) hence all the foundation etc.

Lizzylou · 27/04/2009 17:24

I wear
Dark brown mascara by Lancome
Concealer
Bronzer

Every day

For work I add a foundation, brown eyeliner along bottom of lashes,Mac eyeshadow and Mac Lip glass in neutral tones. I go with a bit more colour if I'm going out.

How much is the Body Shop Vit E tinted moisturiser/Highlighter, I am going to a Body Shop party at the weekend.

SpinyNorman · 27/04/2009 17:30

On a normal day I wear
Few dabs of concealer if i have any spots

Face powder foundation thingy

Eyeshadow in a natural colour (i'm so pale you can see veins in my eyelids otherwise)

Tiny bit of mascara, just on the ends of my eyelashes, makes a massive difference and 'opens up' my eyes, so they don't look like p-holes in the snow

When i go out clubbing i wear quite heavy eye-makeup though.

bluebump · 27/04/2009 17:35

Foundation - Clinique Superbalanced
Mascara - Clinique or Maybelline
Blusher/Face powder - Benefit Dandelion powder
Concealer/highlighter - Boots no7
Lipgloss - Lancome Juicytubes

Additional extras depending on how my skin looks/going out etc:

Benetint
Eyeshadow - Clinique or Rimmel
Benefit Hollywood Glo

Saltire · 27/04/2009 17:41

Vinegartits - what shade of No7 mousse foundation do you wear?

One work days I wear
this or this
eyeliner, someitmes eyeshadow, lipstick and blusher. I usually take it off when i get home. If we go out during the weekends I will wear some, otherwise i don't on my days off

Saltire · 27/04/2009 17:42

My makeup is a collection of No7, max factor, Loreal, and some maybelline

Wonderstuff · 27/04/2009 18:04

Touche Eclait - I find using a foundation brush to blend it is the easiest way, its very easy to rub it off if you use your fingers.
Avon magix face perfector
Small amount of foundation - just on t zone
Blusher in winter, bronzer in summer
Eyeshadow and lipgloss

I became an AVON rep because I was broke after having dd and hadn't worn any make-up in a while, I get loads of stuff and it costs me nothing
Although after reading this I'm going to try the bodyshop tinted moisturiser
I find that I HAVE to use a decent moisturiser or whatever I do looks shit.

Hulababy · 27/04/2009 18:05

I am lazy but do wear make up daily for work.

I use Virgn Vie one step base and then add some Bodyshop's lip and cheek tint. That's it for day to day.

I wear more if going out, etc.

earthpixie · 27/04/2009 18:24

Sorry haven't time to read the entire thread, but could someone beautilicious please tell me how to apply blusher? never ever even owned any but am getting older and it seems the way forward...

My face is round ( a LEETLE bit plump tbh) with fairly good cheekbones.
