That's under dress/tunic things for summer? I'm 38, 5'10" with reasonable if skinny legs...

Hmmm I've been wondering the same thing but was thinking more of the winter with boots. I'm 39. Will be watching with interest.

noddyholder · 23/04/2009 18:28

I am nearly 44 and wear tehm a lot under dresses and at hime with just a t shirt and flip flops!Although I wouldn't subject the public to that only dp and ds

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/04/2009 18:28

Do you feel ridiculous when you're wearing them? If not, then carry on!

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 23/04/2009 18:29

I wear 'em (37)

and I'm fat

but with a dress/long tunic over

much the same as when I wore them the first time round in the 80's

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 23/04/2009 18:30

I bought some and am too scared to wear them...! (I am 40)

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/04/2009 18:56

I bought some and have worn them a few times, but I did feel a bit odd. I'm 49.

BitOfFun · 23/04/2009 18:59

40 I reckon. Sorry BIWI

PheasantPlucker · 23/04/2009 19:07

Right, I am getting mine out of the drawer!

hidetheribbons · 23/04/2009 20:08

Depends how you wear them. If you wear them under a dress or long tunic you can wear them at any age, they are basically a cross between thick footless tights and trousers. If you wear them with T shirts - I would say 5 was too old!

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/04/2009 22:03

I did feel better wearing them with boots - I have some lovely brown leather biker boots.

(PP - it's the alcohol. I am preserved)

TsarChasm · 23/04/2009 22:07

Another question please! Should they be full length or shorter? And if so, where should they stop?

FlyMeToDunoon · 23/04/2009 22:12

On a recent thread it was decided that leggings were ok if
Not full length.
Or if full length then worn with boots.
Worn with a tunic to at least mid-thigh
Black preferably.
Not snakeskin effect
Or wet look.

And I wore mine yesterday and I am 45!

Actually opens up a whole new world- The world of the short dress. Usually closed to oldies but miraculously ok now when worn with leggings.
Yippee!

TsarChasm · 23/04/2009 23:49

Hmm very interesting. Iswym about the short dress point.

I like those little dresses but then there's my sad old knees to consider. Bare knees wouldn't be good for me, but under leggings, just maybe I could do it without scaring the horses.

So in length - is that say, mid calf? Or even lower without being full length? Too high and we could be in cycling shorts territory and I can't go there. Oooh no.

mrsruffallo · 24/04/2009 00:03

I think once you have a saggy arse you should wave bye bye to leggings.

seeker · 24/04/2009 00:06

About 5, I reckon. Maybe stretch to 7.

ladette · 24/04/2009 00:42

as long as you feel comfortable in them and/or can look in the mirror and think they look ok and/or couldn't give a stuff what anyone thinks. Soooo many ageist comments on this thread.....

Clary · 24/04/2009 00:48

I wore leggings 25 years ago so there is no way I am wearing them again. Same with pixieboots, fetchingly sported last winter by a (24yo) colleague.

Don't let my 80s hang-ups stop any of you tho [sile]

Clary · 24/04/2009 00:49

even

rory140903 · 24/04/2009 01:17

I'm 34 with 3 little kids and wear them all time, primark £1.50 cotton jobs just as good as dearer ones, ruched at bottom, black navy dark grey whatever. tho avoid white and fluro, wet look or leopard print I reckon!!

Reckon they look cool under short dresses, more coverage than tights with chunky boots, and with flatties for warmer days. why would age stop you, if you think you look good, stuff the rest!

recently invested in jean leggings (River Island) you wear them folded up at bottom, v Brigitte Bardot south france methinks!! and no pesky zips, but same nice jeany material.

Go strut your stuff, its all in your attitood, you only live once!
