There was literally not one thing that I would have bought. I understand that I am about 7 years and 2 children too late to be their target customer but really, come off it

HecAteTheEasterBunny · 07/04/2009 16:42

Top shop is for teenagers though, isn't it? they all dress weird

I certainly did.

mumof2teenboys · 07/04/2009 16:42

ewwww, i dont like it, but then, i didnt like them the first time round!

littlelamb · 07/04/2009 16:42

Honestly I have never seen a shop stuffed with such shite

nappyzonecannotcycleuphill · 07/04/2009 16:44

but the teenagers will be clueless as to who they are wont they? especially for youuuuuuuuu blah blah

TrillianEAstraEgg · 07/04/2009 16:44

Right. No thanks.

notsoteenagemum · 07/04/2009 16:48

rofl at guffaw.

DSM · 07/04/2009 16:49

Its meant to be ironic though, not serious.

littlelamb · 07/04/2009 16:53

It might be ironic DSM. But it's still shit. And that is just one of the many exampes I caould have linked to

OP posts:
littlelamb · 07/04/2009 16:54

Anyone ever see that sketch Victoria Wood did about Topshop. She walks towards the doors, suddenly shutters come down, gets her hips wedged in the purposely narrow turnstile and a tannoy shouts out 'alert alert, size 16 coming through'

Hence why I haven't been in topshop since I was about 11 .

MrsMattie · 07/04/2009 16:57

The name is the best That alone would put me off.

Drop crotch? What?

doggiesayswoof · 07/04/2009 16:57

I agree OP, it is all utter shite.

LouIsTheEasterBilby · 07/04/2009 16:58

I showed the shirt to a couple of 13yr old girls and they had no idea who they were...I feel very old now.

kittykat21 · 07/04/2009 17:01

I'm in my early 20's and I don't think I have ever bought anything from there! I think it's all abit odd and unflattering IMO.

Tinker · 07/04/2009 17:01

But that top isn't aimed at 30/35+ women so not sure how it could be ironic.

DoctorWho · 07/04/2009 17:01

Harem pants. Absolute pants. They add 2 stone to any female in my opinion. Don't do it ladies!

DSM · 07/04/2009 17:05

I am not 30/35, I get the irony of it, and I shop a lot in topshop, so I am always a little biased on these threads

geordieminx · 07/04/2009 17:07

The words "emporers new clothes" spring to mind. Stick a topshop label on it and the teenage masses will buy it.

cyteen · 07/04/2009 18:11

Tiny Japanese girls are the only people who can wear harem pants and get away with it.

Last time I went in Topshop (only last week, after a considerable length of absence) I was totally confused by all the clothes. Like, I just couldn't work out how one was meant to wear them. The tshirts are all either massively capelike and square or drapey and made of knots, and the only bottom half stuff was either leggings, belt-sized minis or weird baggy/clingy things. Presumably one is meant to wear all this stuff at once in some kind of cunning layer, but it just looked like very hard work to me. I pushed my pram right back out of there, no doubt to the immense relief of the staff.

ninedragons · 07/04/2009 23:40

Faux-vintage is SO naff.

It's hard to carry off the pretence that you found a 20-year-old Kylie and Jase t-shirt in a charity shop and wittily and ironically teamed it with "skinnies and a leather biker-style gilet" if 200,000 sheep teenagers around the country are wearing exactly the same thing.

Ronaldinhio · 07/04/2009 23:45

ffs

I would get a Bouncer t shirt though

shedragon · 07/04/2009 23:47

I think I have one of those in the attic.....
