pEOPLE WHO LOOK GLAM WEARING JUST NORMAL STUFF - WHAT'S THE SECRET?

popsycal · 04/04/2009 19:52

Ok so I have had a bad day trudging round town with ds3 trying on dresses for a wedding and nothing fitted properly. I am a size 12 so lots of choice. But I just looked at myself and though urgh.

I have a friend who is a similar size and build as me, we shop in similar places and have a similar style. Yet she can make an asda t shirt look so glamourous. She is fairly normal look but always looks stunning,

So - share your secrets!

Feeling frumpy

Mooseheart · 07/04/2009 20:30

Oh feck orrrffff Maidamess....

Of course I don't, although I did wear a pretty mean Laura Ashley green taffeta number to a ball once, back in the early nineties.

mrsmaidamess · 07/04/2009 20:31

Oh, didn't we all dahling!

Mooseheart · 07/04/2009 20:32

So fetching, especially as it was about six inches too short for me and worn with clunky black court shoes. (boak)

HumphreyCobbler · 07/04/2009 20:35

Love this thread.

It is very inspiring.

I have been bf or pg since 2005 so not as long as you Popsycal, but still a long time.

Am off to get eyebrows threaded

Evenin' Puss.

I was watching that stupid Louise Redknapp documentary the other night and the one thing I did learn from it (other than that I think Louise Redknapp actually wanted an excuse to shed the baby weight quickly and get paid at the same time for doing so) was that, even at nine months pg she looked amazing, and I think most of that was down to having (fake I hope) tanned skin and great hair.

I remember a girl who was, errr, very dowdy at uni, but I bumped into her a year later after she'd been living abroad. She looked completely different but all she had was a light tan and her hair highlighted, in fact she looked a total babe...

PussinJimmyChoos · 07/04/2009 21:02

I hate fake tan though...it smells of cheesy feet when its dried...I'm so white I think I would get mistaken for a milk bottle if I got left out on a doorstep....

Why does tanned = healthy looking

popsycal · 07/04/2009 21:04

Just thinking - my friend I mentioned in the OP always has a tan.....

OP posts:
Mooseheart · 07/04/2009 21:05

Well yes, fake tan does smell disgusting. I always imagine Victoria Beckham smelling of gone off cheesy biscuits.

Err... bronzer is good alernative?

Pale can be VERY sexy, but not on me I have sallow skin in winter. I would love to be pale and interesting, instead I am pale and corpse like, so not v healthy looking IMO.

popsycal · 07/04/2009 21:08

I saw the most amazing looking pale woman at ds1's gym class tonight (I am pale too). She had fab hair and skin
she was wearing jeans, a black fitted t shirt and silver flat shoes
but looke dGLAM!!

OP posts:
PussinJimmyChoos · 07/04/2009 21:08

Can bronzer work on very pale skin though that's the thing....

I think a flawless complexion adds to the glam look as well...the 'yummy mummies' at my music group are all zit free...

I hate to say, but a bit tanned does look better. With really pale skin, it's like qhite clothing; it has to be flawless.

I saw that louise woman sort of up close once and was she was wearing a see-through dress and big knickers, a fair few months pregnant, at a religious ceremony. I thought it was a bit out of order, but maybe that's just me.
