What's your opinion on women 35+ wearing mini skirts.

I tried on a lovely denim mini skirt in new look. I thought it would look great with a thick pair of tights and pair of boots, but i'm put off a little given that i'm 37yrs old.

So I'm asking in all honesty...Am I too old to wear a mini?

I am 43 and I would wear that

and I would look great in it

upagumtree · 09/03/2009 18:40

That's exactly what I wanted to hear!

It's nothing to do with age, and everything to do legs. Don't do it if your legs are a bit iffy. Otherwise, fine.

upagumtree · 09/03/2009 18:45

one of my "younger" friends was with me and she said "Wow... I didn't realise what a great set of pins you have" due to being constantly hidden under trousers. So yip i think i can safely say that my legs are not "iffy"

i wear them still at 42

its knowing how to wear them appropriately

opaque tights and boots are the right way, heels and ssheer tights are a no no

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 09/03/2009 18:49

You've obviously got great legs (and great friends for telling you so ), so I would say go for it. Especially the way you intend to wear it.

AnyFucker · 09/03/2009 19:11

yep, tights must be woolly/opaque although not necessarily black

never bare legs

no "fuck-me" boots, must be biker style or flat riding boots

fgs, no thigh length boots and no stilettos

HecatesTwopenceworth · 09/03/2009 19:14

depends, like others say, on the rest of you!

Post a pic so we can judge you advise properly

upagumtree · 09/03/2009 19:41

lol@posting piccie. No no no no .

Absolutely agree with no shag me shoes/boots... would never dream of it.

Definately woolly/opaque tights and calf length suede boots.

chicken

noddyholder · 09/03/2009 19:43

Agree re it depends on your legs.Opaque tights good also footless tights and lovely shoes. In summer very waxed brown and sheeny No flab though and decent toe nails

princessmel · 09/03/2009 19:47

I would wear one, I do wear one.

Agree with the rules re tights , boots etc.

There is a mum at school who is over 40 (only mentioned age cos OP did first) and wears a denim skirt that is so short it ONLY just skims her crutch. Looks BAD.

JaneSeymour · 09/03/2009 19:48

Yes I think you have to be modest

I'd wear maybe a 60d or maybe 40

not necessarily thick tights but not v thin ones

And I'd wear it with big winter boots so it looks casual iyswim

Lots of mums at school wear short skirts.

Mind you I'm told I look about 27, am 35

georgimama · 09/03/2009 19:50

Never bare legs - thick tights and boots or flats and fantastic legs, yes.

Otherwise no.

princessmel · 09/03/2009 19:52

Oh I think bare legs are ok, in high summer with flip flops....

noddyholder · 09/03/2009 19:54

god I am 44 and do bare legs in summer with flat sandals and would wear heels like the gap ones with shorts If you still have good firm legs why not?

AnyFucker · 09/03/2009 19:55

< sticks toungue out at janeseymour >

I am 43, and I look 43

have fabulous legs and arse though

georgimama · 09/03/2009 19:56

Depends on skin tone, complete absence of thread veins and cellulite etc. In general even if the shape of a woman's legs over 35 is forgiving, the skin isn't.

I have neither the leg shape nor the skin and never did, so I am only !

lou33 · 09/03/2009 20:05

bare legs with flop flops or flat sandals in summer is fine

TonyAlmeida · 09/03/2009 20:10

I did today

Lizzylou · 09/03/2009 20:10

Am 35 (almost, very nearly 36) and I wear short skirts and opaques.

So no, you're not too old

I could never do mini skirt with bare legs due to wobbly cellutite and plucked chicken skin, unless someone wants to take me to a spa in the caribbean to sort out my wobbly bits and let me get a tan?

Lizzylou · 09/03/2009 20:11

Cellulite, obv

mrsmaidamess · 09/03/2009 20:12

I have great shape leg but terrible skin, (veins, hairs, the whole nine yards) Hence mini skirts and tights in the winter pour moi, but alas no one gets to see the pins in the summer.

noddyholder · 09/03/2009 20:14

My legs are the same as in my 20s shame the rest of me isn't!I often wear a longish mid thigh tunic/dress with bare legs and gladiator sandals or flip flops.
