Boden Shopping Party - heaven or hell?

NorkyButNice · 27/02/2009 13:29

Now, I am not a Boden hater. I have a few items in my wardrobe that I love and wear to death (the Merino Pintuck Tunic in the current season is amazing and I would live in it if they did it in more colours).

BUT, who hosts a Boden shopping party in their house? Has anyone ever been to one? Is it just like a Tupperware or Ann Summers party? Will there be hundreds of identically clad funky hotchpotch ladies grabbing clothes off rails?

Should I go?

Am I the only one who's ever been invited to one of these?

Never even heard of them.

gladbag · 27/02/2009 13:49

I've never heard of them! Is this wind-up? Can really book a Boden house party ? Honestly?

Galava · 27/02/2009 13:50

Are you a personal friend of Johnnies ?

largeginandtonic · 27/02/2009 13:50

Never heard of them!

NorkyButNice · 27/02/2009 13:55

Really? I received an email today that says...

-------

Hello

We thought you might like to know that there is a Boden Shopping Party being held very near you.

What is a Boden Shopping Party?
Very simply, it's a chance to see, feel, and try on our latest range in the comfort of someone's home. One of our customers has agreed to act as host, and will have four stacked rails of Womenswear, Mini, Accessories (plus a few bits of Menswear) and jeans in every size to help find your perfect fit. If anything takes your fancy, you can place an order there and then using their exclusive offers. The only risk is what might happen if you walk mud into their hallway.

If you fancy popping along to see and try on our new Spring range, please contact Lisa Webb on [email protected] or call 079580 45859 for details.

Hope you can make it.

--------

And then it's "signed" by Johnnie.

I am oddly fascinated...

sounds interesting but peculiar

going to a strangers house to rummage some random clothes......where do you try them on? do you take children along? (maybe the free returns is eating into the profits??)

sazzerbear · 27/02/2009 14:00

i want to go!

independiente · 27/02/2009 14:06

Actually, it would probably be hilarious! Go, and then report back...!

Tommy · 27/02/2009 14:09

I would go - if it was like a body shop party or something and in a friend's house. Nice girly evening, drinking on wine and trying on clothes!

In a random stranger's house - not sure

sazzerbear · 27/02/2009 14:10

Even better - nosing round a random strangers house!

NorkyButNice · 27/02/2009 14:18

Right - I'm going to mail and find out more information! If it's literally round the corner I might have to go (as someone else said just so I can nose round someone's house). Nice way to meet the neighbours too!

I've received one of those emails too, Norky. Too to mention it to any RL friends.
I would worry that it'd be like a lesbian swinging party with the (hotch-potched) clothes on. Either that or I'd lower the tone.
Please go along and report back.

veryembarrassedmummy · 27/02/2009 16:19

are you sure it's not spam?

supergluebum · 27/02/2009 16:26

I am torn....I have some bits of Boden, not because I like them, but because I've ordered stuff and I'm too idle to send it back
I just don't think I could sit with all the Jocasta mummies touching up cocoa puke cashmere tbh.

Their kids stuff is ok though

RinkyDinkyPinky · 27/02/2009 16:35

SGB Jocasta mummies touching up the cashmere

RinkyDinkyPinky · 27/02/2009 16:41

will have nightmares now about turning up to a boden party in saggy tracksuit bottoms and fleece and watching as teacups hit saucers all around. Rather go to pub tbh

supergluebum · 27/02/2009 16:45

Boden mummies would never go to the pub

EldonAve · 27/02/2009 16:53

There was a ad for one in the MN Local Cambridge section

EldonAve · 27/02/2009 16:54

an ad

sagacious · 27/02/2009 16:58

I'd go to a friends house for one (it would probably be a laugh, but someone I didn't know ... distinctly odd

[stalks off sassy style]

RinkyDinkyPinky · 27/02/2009 17:03

SGB it's a v posh pub, I assure you!
Eldon- are you in Cambridge/ going to it?
[fly on wall emoticon]

EldonAve · 27/02/2009 17:15

here it is it's next week

I won't be going but it is 20% off

ForeverOptimistic · 27/02/2009 17:27

I hope this doesn't take off, it is very Bodeny around here. Even with 20% off there is no way I could afford their prices.

pointydog · 27/02/2009 17:37

lol @ title

You need to ask?
