Boden Shopping Party - heaven or hell?

NorkyButNice · 27/02/2009 13:29

Now, I am not a Boden hater. I have a few items in my wardrobe that I love and wear to death (the Merino Pintuck Tunic in the current season is amazing and I would live in it if they did it in more colours).

BUT, who hosts a Boden shopping party in their house? Has anyone ever been to one? Is it just like a Tupperware or Ann Summers party? Will there be hundreds of identically clad funky hotchpotch ladies grabbing clothes off rails?

Should I go?

Know this is an old thread but just seen it and had to respond cos I'm having a Boden party in a couple of weeks They're not full of yummy mummies I promise and nothing dodgy goes on - they're just a chance for people to try on the clothes and have a coffee/wine and a laugh. The host earns commission and the shoppers get discounts. So if you live in SE London (which is very unbodeny) and wanna come along and satisfy your curiousity then get in touch

LynetteScavo · 09/04/2009 21:44

So how do you get to host one?

Not that I would...I'm just nosey!

weepootle · 09/04/2009 21:49

Is it only SE London? The other thread about it was in Herts. I'm in the SW but would honestly love to hold one .

It's something new they launched recently. I contacted them to see if I could do it after being invited to one myself cos I do buy their stuff, although only in the sales and only if it doesn't look too Bodeny The idea is to attract new customers to Boden so you need to get more people than just a few mates round

I'm doing it to make a bit of money whilst at home with 2 DDs

RosieGrieves · 09/04/2009 22:16

Should have given contact details in case anyone wants any info on the party and is too embarassed to admit it on mumsnet

I think you have to be in a 4 by 4 and with yellow hair to go.
And with children called Hugo.

And they get giddy with sassiness and copulate like rabbits when they get home.

its true, if you take a friend, they are a new customer and they place an order you get £25. I've been to two now.

bellissima · 04/02/2010 10:44

They have them round here (Bucks) - one of the school mums was going to one last week and invited me along. Said no (a) cos have got a couple of items via preview order and (b) I do suspect that the 'peer pressure' would make me end up buying something I didn't really want.

(Would have to be mega-pressure and several large glasses vino though before I came home with the 'Olive from On the Buses' green wrap dress..)

I got an email invitation to one (from Johnnie!) a couple of months ago. However, when I emailed the host asking for more info she never replied - sob sob!

GiddayPossum · 04/03/2010 20:24

I went to a Boden Party very recently - beware of any freebie offers or 4th item for £1 or a Free Bag if you spend £150 or more....as my friend and I were both taken for a ride. She returned everything back to Boden as a result. I kept the items but will not buy from a party ever again as I was completely STUNG! Also make sure you have the person's contact details on the receipt as she didn't fill out my receipt!!!

However, the quality is good and we had fun trying on all the clothes rather than just buying from a catalogue.

I did write to Boden and the customer service was absolutely dreadful not helpful at all even when I explained the situation they were not interested. SO BEWARE OF BEING STUNG !!!

Am new to mumsnet but thought i would add my bit on here after having just hosted a boden party, thought others might be interested in my experience..... This is what happened: The clothes arrived via courier, no rep from boden, (infact very little contact from them at all, only via email)i put all the clothes out, opened my house up to yes, many complete strangers, arranged the clothes, made tea and coffee / cakes and biscuits then offered wine etc in the evening. I worked incredibly hard to sell bodens clothes for them, for actuially very little commission. (5% for existing customers!) Plus no inventory was sent with the clothes - they had come straight from another party and it seemed that many pairs of trousers (which lets face it are the things you really want to try on!) were missing. The offers on the day were actually no better than those already on the website and the host doesn't get any additional discount or credit, nothing like that. I was totally shattered by the end of the day and really felt a bit put out for all the hard work I had put in. They maintain that these parties can bring in about £4000 of sales (nice for them!), well maybe, not here though and I was flat out all day. If anyone is considering hosting one of these parties I would just warn you.....BEWARE!!!!!! I would NEVER do it again, and despite being a loyal Boden customer in protest I have returned all the clothes I bought and will be avoiding them from now on!

Panda what an awful experience for you Sorry to hear you were so badly stung. I have received an invite to a party for the end of April. Really not sure whether to go or not after all the negative things on here....
