see here

Mind you Beatrice and Eugenie didn't look that great either IMHO, apart from the hats... (the blurred figure in the background of that pic looked best).

marthasmama. In that case maybe the whole outfit is charity shop vintage chic - the hat certainly looks like it's seen better summers.

Well, of all the women bitched about featured, Frankie is the one I would make a beeline to talk to.

she is wearing a summer outfit and hat in the winter. which is odd.

she must have been freeeeeezing !

Lulumama · 25/02/2009 17:53

i think when you are in the public eye and expected to keep up with etiquette, wearing something more suitable for a summer garden party for a memorial unveiling is a teeny bit dim.

I don't have a problem with the coat not being brand new - far from it. In fact that excuses her style faux pas somewhat in my book. However, one has to admit it was perhaps not a wise or appropriate combination,, for the time of year if nothing else. I don't envy her being in the public eye though, it must be a nightmare.I didn't start this thread with the intention to be bitchy, maybe I should have placed it in the 'Just for fun' topic.

I wasn't being a snob. I'm not bothered if she got it from a charirty shop. I was just amazed to see a coat from 10 years ago, that's all. I certainly wasn't bitching.

Marthasmama · 25/02/2009 18:29

Or indeed spelling correctly.

FlorenceAndtheWashingMachine · 25/02/2009 18:49

Frankie: "We are going to this Queen mum service. What the hell can I wear?".

Nice (taller) friend: "You looked lovely at the wedding last summer. Wear that outfit."

Frankie: "It's a bit chilly for that."

Nice (taller) friend: "I have a lovely coat you could wear. I bought in a sale ages ago, but I've never worn it."

Frankie: "That sounds great. Loads of important people are going. It's not as if anyone is going to be taking any notice of me..."

MNers - we must all start making more effort just in case Liz Jones is about. I am worried that I may be featured in the DM tomorrow - I had a facial this morning and may have been captured on film without makeup on.

PortAndLemon · 25/02/2009 19:01

I don't like the outfit it's frankly odd for the weather conditions, and I don't think the dress and coat go together but I fail to see why "sombre" or "muted tones and designs" are expected at the unveiling of a statue commemorating the long and happy life of someone who died some time ago. And if it's so bloody sombre, why no outrage about the photograph of William and Harry (shock) laughing?

TheCrackFox · 25/02/2009 19:20

It is not a brilliant outfit and would have been more suited weather. However, just wanted to add my name to the list of people who think Liz Jones is a spiteful cow bag.

independiente · 28/02/2009 22:06

Well, Liz Jones proves herself to be a lazy, no-talent journo, and certainly not an 'authority' to be taken even remotely seriously.
Yes, why exactly should it be a sombre occasion? I don't get that either.
Outfit in question not brilliantly put together IMO, but how it could inspire such vitriol is mind-boggling.
