What style of knickers should I buy?

I only care about what they look like with clothes on, as I have children instead of a sex life. And comfort of course, so thongs are out. I have good legs and bum so don't mind high cut at the sides but I have a big flabby post kids tummy so suspect I need higher cut at the front.Sigh

And what fabric is best? I usually buy 100% cotton for comfort but then they go all baggy. Baggy, grey knickers.....mmmm....so sexy

And preferably from M&S as I have a gift card

Thank you oh wise mumsnetters

None of them fit my odd shaped arse. Why is that?

KristinaM · 01/02/2009 19:06

FA - I thought you were a cool slim young thing and would be able to advise me in my search?

Matalan? they always have lots at 2 or 3 for £5 including some imitation Sloggi shorts style ones that have a gathered bit up the back to show off your bum - at that price you can buy different styles and see what suits you best. They last for ages anyway.
Of course .. and I hardly dare mention it as
they are real granny knicks Sloggis are the most comfortable ( so I've been told)

Flightattendant9 · 01/02/2009 19:40

Oh you have me so wrong Kristina

Yes sloggi rings a bell. I might try sloggis. Thankyou Higgle!

M&S do some lace shorts style pants in a high waist style these that are actually quite nice, and I also have these that are lycra so clothes skim over them and are very comfy - but not terribly attractive to look at

KristinaM · 01/02/2009 19:56

have you worn the lace ones? i imagine that they might be a bit...itchy? although they certainly look nicer than the plain ones

i see the lycra ones have good reviews on the site

cmotdibbler · 01/02/2009 20:09

Yes, they are very soft and comfortable

CarGirl · 01/02/2009 20:12

I buy H&M childrens cotton ones that are like shorts very comfy nothing else in life matters IMHO

Flightattendant9 · 01/02/2009 20:14

Lol Cargirl, how do you fit into children's ones though? You must be so tiny!

Kristina yes of course I do

ha

CarGirl · 01/02/2009 20:15

They go up to age 15-16!

Flightattendant9 · 01/02/2009 20:16

Does that mean about a 10 in grown up sizes..(or are you secretly teenage?)

CarGirl · 01/02/2009 20:18

They start off a size 10 and after a few months shrink to an 8 I have very skinny hips and they don't reach up to my flabby tummy!

Flightattendant9 · 01/02/2009 20:21

Ah! I will try and get some - they sound ace, might be a bit small on me though, I have got fatter hips/thighs than waist iyswim.

God will send me knickers that fit one day.

CarGirl · 01/02/2009 20:24

They don't have seems on them in the crotch area, divinely comfortable. Me and 3 of the dds all have them. I had to iron in name tapes so dh can seperate them into the correct clean washing piles

Flightattendant9 · 01/02/2009 20:33

No seams????

I need these pants.
Seriously how brilliant.

You have a well trained husband obviously

CarGirl · 01/02/2009 20:36

just have seems along the sides on your hips.

Hmmm well trained, when your washing for 6 people you kind of need a hand - he can't do the socks though!

Flightattendant9 · 01/02/2009 20:40
Grin
KristinaM · 01/02/2009 21:25

I can second Matalan and I have good legs and bum with uncontrolled, vast tummy so similar needs to you KM.
I find some of the M&S ones roll down and settle under my tummy, it's horrid, I can feel the slow movement downwards when I sit down, then plop, my tummy flops over the top. God, how sexy am I?

bunny3 · 01/02/2009 21:31

Jusr reread my post - didnt mean to suggest your tummy is vast or uncontrolled KM

KristinaM · 01/02/2009 21:45

I'm afraid it is bunny

got some from m&s lately and was v disappointed the cotton was very thin, design a bit naff but that's my fault in a hurry

princessmel · 01/02/2009 22:09
