Feeling fat and fed up appearance-wise since having DD.

I'm working on the fat, but I'd appreciate your brutal words on how to improve the rest of me so have added a pic on my profile for a limited time only

I'm here quite a lot but I've changed my name for this (wimp!)

Please can you help me to improve. I should say, my hair is all one shade of dark brown atm as has been dyed since this pic was taking.

Thanks!

well I think you look pretty good

great bone structure

Maveta · 22/01/2009 21:23

wouldn´t know what to suggest, I think you look lovely

ProfRichardDawkins · 22/01/2009 21:23

I think you look lovely. And lovely baby too. But perhaps you could do with some fairly subtle caramel highlights to warm-up your face a tad?

DevilsAdvocaat · 22/01/2009 21:24

maybe some blusher? you look a bit pale.
try this

expensive but awesome and lasts. also you can use to highlight brows/eyeshadow areas.

other than that you are fine

Flier · 22/01/2009 21:24

sorry, difficult to tell what the problem is from your photo, you look lovely to me. (and not fat!)

ContainsMildPeril · 22/01/2009 21:25

You look young (younger than me .)

I like your hair in the piccy and you are a pretty lass. So the best i can come up with is to wear a bit more makeup - esp to accentuate your eyes (can't see the colour). Can't go wrong with a bit of mascara and kohl imo.

Maybe wear some warmer tones too.

imstuckinarut · 22/01/2009 21:25

Aw, thanks

Prof, I used to have highlights but we're on a budget since DD was born and had to go back to my natural colour

DA, thanks for that blusher. I definitely think I am too pale.

I think you look lovely but in need of somem tlc too, rather than masses of work! I'd get your hair cut to around ear length, bit of colour in it, wear more fitted tops too, they are more flattering

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 22/01/2009 21:25

Good lord woman....where exactly are you hiding the fat?? You look fantastic already

Hassled · 22/01/2009 21:26

You look lovely - are you mad? Not fat, not ugly - far from it. You look pretty and nice. And your baby is cute. And I like your hair.

The only thing you could possibly need is self-esteem lessons

Oh, you're pretty! New haircut always makes me feel better, perhaps highlights. But you are very very pretty.

Sidge · 22/01/2009 21:26

You have gorgeously shiny hair, but maybe a bit shapeless? (sorry I'm being overly picky).

Your complexion is lovely and you are pretty so I can't think of anything else

pooka · 22/01/2009 21:26

I think you look great - fantastic bone structure/cheekbones and a well=proportioned face. Like your hair too. As PRD said, having some colour in your hair might warm your face up - depends on your eye colour (couldn't tell). How about chestnutty/reddish tinge? Or highlights.

But that is just picking holes really. I'd be happy to have your bone structure/facial proportion.

fishie · 22/01/2009 21:27

but your hair is already brown in pic. tell us more.... what clothes, makeup etc hvae you got? you need one outfit which suits you and you feel happy in while losing weight. or if not really losing weight then three outfits.

WilfSell · 22/01/2009 21:28

Oh you are gorgeous. But I understand.

Right. Difficult to tell colouring in that light but the blue looks like the wrong shade perhaps? You look a bit pale for it to me.

Haircut deffo. The long fringe curtains not highlighting your lovely bone structure. I'd suggest a short cut, layered at back and sides with long layers on top. Kind of like

lovelysongbirdie · 22/01/2009 21:28

you are lovely as you are imho.

bit of mascara and blusher and maybe a different colour top.

imstuckinarut · 22/01/2009 21:28

Thanks everyone, I'm not overly keen on my hair atm, I don't like it this dark.

Is there anything I could do with it colourwise at home or cheaply?

My eyes are brown and I think all the brown hair plus brown eyes always looks a bit drab on me.

Definitely need a haircut too

I'd be well chuffed to look as good as you!

DevilsAdvocaat · 22/01/2009 21:29

stuck in a rut,

i am pale too and sometimes i catch a glimpse of myself and look really haggardy and older than i am. i just invested in one of these compacts and got the woman in john lewis to help me pick out the correct shade. it def makes me look a bit perkier and even if i don't have time to put on eyeshadow or whatever, i just put my powder on and some of that. it kinda masks the lack of sleep iykwim.

good luck, you do look fab anyway tho.

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/01/2009 21:30

you are bloody beautiful

imstuckinarut · 22/01/2009 21:32

DA it's a curse isn't it being pale? The make up women scare me sometimes (they are so orange, and I am so pale!) I might give that a go though.

OP posts:
pooka · 22/01/2009 21:32

I have brown hair and brown(ish) eyes. I have a fair bit of grey coming through though and every now and then I have a permanent reddish dark/brown colour done which kind of smoothes and adds an extra depth of colour.

That reminds me - must make another appointment because at the same time I have it cut and slightly layered and at the moment it is in terrible condition. Gets very dry and a bit bushy (is quite thick). Clothes wise, I find that cold blue doesn't suit me, but a more greeny turquoise does.

ScottishMummy · 22/01/2009 21:32

you are bonnie, your wee baby too treat yourself to haircut, colour, some make up mummy treat

Pannacotta · 22/01/2009 21:32

I think you look lovely too, but I think the colour of your top is not that flattering, from your pic I think maybe soft plum colours might be better (hard to tell as the photo is quite dark).
Like your hair but a good haircut is always a morale booster.
