I'm fed up of being out of shape, scruffy Mummy. From this week I'm going to watch less Telly get more exercise in and start looking groomed. Any scruffy bugger want to join me. I plan to be a Diva by summer.
I'm sitting here in a Fleece, green 'Tu' Sainsbury's old t-shirt, men's Gap jeans and brown flat trainer type thing, eyebrows need doing and hair needs cutting. Time to change. Anyone want to join a support group?

Going to bed early tonight as I got up early at 4.40am.
Might go for a swim before I come home tommorow.

Ok, the exercise thing isn't happening yet but I did shave my legs yesterday and put lotion on. Must buy a new razor though. I probably get a new one once or twice a year . That is a testament to:
a) just how little I shave my legs and
b) how skanky my razor is

MrsFoxMulder · 21/01/2009 22:21

Oops, namechanged for another thread. Will have to stay incognito for now...

cheesesarnie · 21/01/2009 22:30

i am unhealthy and have bad skincare routine.-i sound foul

starbear · 21/01/2009 22:57

cheesesarnie Are you going to join us or Alistair Darling? Don't worry about waxing too expensive just cheap old plucking.
I did go swimming so I did do something didn't get up early to do DVD
Thursday PM plan.(working day)
Tidy nails
scrub feet & cracked heel cream (doesn't that sound awful)
cream all over
Arrange one outfit for the weekend from what I have. This is going to be hard.

cheesesarnie · 21/01/2009 23:00

i best join you!i wouldnt know where to start plucking-what stays-what goes etc?

should say-
dont need to lose weight, have no nails and dont do feet.

LaDiDaDi · 21/01/2009 23:10

Can I join this thread?

I'm desperate to fit in more exercise before I get pregnant (ttc dc2 from this month) and I am also determined to get my feet and skin looking nice.

I am now going in the shower and I'm determined to body scrub, body moisturise and then heelbalm my feet before bed.

I also need a day at the shops sans dd but that may have to wait until next month at this rate.

starbear · 22/01/2009 08:10

cheesesarnie What would you like to do?
I've plucked my eyebrows since I was 14 (I didn't have anything better to do that day) But stopped when I had DS I like to see them neat. I'm sure someone on here can direct us to a site that shows people how to pluck. I have to go to work now
LaDiDaDi Welcome. Good start. I have to do the same. My brother and sister are my personal shoppers but, we haven't had time to go out for the day recently (brother has been ill)So called him yesterday and he agreed to help me out.
Today, I did sit ups before my shower. Bit by bit, I will improve. I hope that anyone joining-in will enjoying the journey. One Life etc...

I always pluck eyebrows after shower or bath. Steam opens the pores and makes it easier. I used to get them waxed regularly but they grow so quick that £10 every 10 days is too much. So now I just follow the shape the therapist gave me. I probably pluck twice a week.

I have started sorting heels out this week too. They were real old-lady feet on Monday - white, dry and cracked. I have been using a Scholl scrub on dry feet, rinse off and smother in Scholl deep moisturising cream. It isn't their super-duper strength one because that was more expensive than the other two products put together. However, it's day 4 and my heels are already smooth and lovely. Would definitely not be at all embarrassed to expose them in flipflops now. I kept the cream by my bed so I can slather it on before sleep.

I also sit and take make up off whilst watching tv. Was forever going to bed thinking "sod it" but find if I do it whilst 'Stenders is on then it doesn't seem a chore .

Ivykaty44 · 22/01/2009 17:26

Has anyone had their eyebrows threaded? My friends dd has hers done and they are really good, cost £3.

I am pondering, the pain? Would it be less than wax or more?

Have today have:

Spin class and body conditioning

need to file, wax and shave [oohhh]

starbear · 22/01/2009 19:36

I've had my eyebrows thread sadly it was the same price as wax.
So I have a little time now. I always pluck my eyebrows after a bath to open pores. Also in daylight by the window to get the best possible light. Never figured out the pencil to the nose trick? I use good tweezers and a magnifying mirror. then just pluck in an arch over my brow. Keep going until they look neat to me. That's why they haven't been done regularly for 4 years.
Tonight, DH is at school doing parents evening then it's pub quiz night.
So sit-ups or a DVD then bath scrub feet, then Scholl cream the same as TherealMrsJohn...yes irt works very well.Didn't have any chocolate today snacks.

Crashed and burned today no plucking no exercise. Just a busy doing nothing. Where did the day go? Will do better tommorow!

OP posts:
Ivykaty44 · 23/01/2009 18:17

Hay, days not over - you could have a pamper bath later this eve and do your plucking after...... a little shave in the bath and a body cream all over after.

I was good on the exercise today, spin, body pump and some yoga to finish. Lots of conditioner in my hair today to make it lovely and shiny.

starbear · 23/01/2009 20:15

Ivykaty44 Well done! You are now my guru. I will do just that. Not sure about plucking at night because years ago I would be looking for hairs that wouldn't be visible with the naked eye! I'm looking for big ones now, could just go for it and look again in the morning for the odd one or two. Thank you for words of wisdom.
Gym has a circuit training class at 9.15am tomorrow DH said he'll take care of Ds (positive support I love him) then I'll take DS swimming (more exercise, lovely)

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 23/01/2009 20:21

Had my pamper session this morning - DH took kids to school so I had time for a little lie-in and a hot shower, smother self in lotion and do hair and make up . Am now enjoying my first glass of wine all week. Giving up on my regular "winding down" glass per night has made me lose 2lbs this week . I know its not a massive amount but I feel so much better - hadn't realised how bloated it was making me so I just look a slightly better shape already.

Went shopping today too and was v restrained and only bought things I absolutely loved. A 50's dress for the summer, a perfect white shirt (collarless), a gorgeous copy of the Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse scarf, and a floaty tunic with a pattern of navy, royal and turquoise blues

starbear · 24/01/2009 19:25

TheRealMrsJohnSimm Start of your weekend sounds bliss. Going to take your tip,I'm going to drop the daily glass of wine, never used to drink everyday until I meant DH. No wonder I was slimmer. Right, only Sat/Sun now. I'm going to wait until I've lost some weight before I go shopping. Your shopping trip sounds susccessful. Not a fan of shopping but I must do some to look remotley good.
Good day today, did circuits at the gym. got there at 9am Great.
Morning off tommorow so might do some maintence. Sit-ups, Exercise DVD eyebrows (still not done) and cream all over.

OP posts:
starbear · 25/01/2009 12:19

Okay eyebrows plucked at last. Finger nails cut and filed ready to grow nicely, feet scrubbed & cream last night. Cream on feet now & cream all over body. No sit-ups will work it from Monday.

OP posts:
Ivykaty44 · 25/01/2009 17:47

Star bear you will lose your star if there is no sit up on Monday I am spying you

starbear · 25/01/2009 20:47

cheesesarnie · 25/01/2009 21:23

ive been wearing little make up this week and perfume which is good for me!also treated myself to beutiful necklace to feel nice.
hair cut booked for tomorrow but unsure on making it as ds2 ill-again!

sincitylover · 25/01/2009 22:55

from time to time I like to use LincoBeer shampoo and conditioner combined - it has such a lovely fresh smell and cheap. But for me not conditioning enough for regular use.

Tesco finest ginger warming body scrub is lovely - it actualy heats up on the body and has a salty aspect to it plus it smells delicious.

Agree with walking or I try to cycle to work when I can or walk most of the way.

Eyebrows combed (like to use clear mascara for this) and extended with a light feathery stroke of an eyebrow pencil. Plucked/tidied regularly.

Also use Protect and Perfect when I can afford it plus like Liz Earle skin products.

Blusher and mascara (liking Bourjois) liner effect and Pout Lip Plump as the basics.

starbear · 26/01/2009 08:15

Cheesesarnie Hope your Ds gets better soon.
Does the hairdresser have late opening so you can get your haircut when someones home to look after him? OR re -book now for next week? I just need my fringe trimmed as I'm trying to grow my hair after 4 years of short hair.
sincitylover Good tips. I have booked cycle training lesson with my local council next week. I have 9 days A/L to take before April. I can cycle but strangly not stand-up and cycle When I did cycle everyday it was in the countryside and very safe. I looked fab (I was also 23 yrs old!)Going to try to cycle to work and maybe even go to appointments.
report later on progress Ds has woken up.

can i join?

skin is an awful mess, i don't think drinking water helps in my case unfortunately.

At one point i was running 4 or 5 times a week, but that has dwindled to zilch in recent months.

I must look like the least yummy mummy ever. Plus we're also ttc #2 this month and i don't want to be horribly overweight even before i'm pg.

some very inspirational ideas on here by the way... love the organising clothes into outfits thing. and also clearing out the old clothes. Ok, here's what i'll do:

1, start running every other day.
2, find a skincare routine that suits my skintype (acne prone, lots of yukky open pores and getting premature wrinkles cos i sleep in a very scrunched up foetal position )
3, organise wardrobe into outfits and charity shop for anything i look hideous in.

starbear · 26/01/2009 15:57

totalmisfit Yes jump right in. No hard and fast rules but you have to commit to your own goals. It's like Goodhousekeeping Fly thread for our bodies. Post everyday or anytime you want and see if you've completed your tasks.
I think some experts will enjoy pop-in too,to give us some valuable advice.
So before I go any further what is ttc#2?
Well today I did sit-ups with DS. he got bored never mind it got done.
Might jog tonight if DH gets in on time.

I want to join - hello

I paint my nails (hands and feet) with clear all the time.

Have hair cut every 8 weeks - by a trainee, costs me 10 and if they F it up and I dont like it - it gets fixed for free by head stylist...

Wash face using WARM water - not hot, as damages skin, and brush your blinking teeth as often as you can, a good smile says a lot.
