Mamazon · 03/01/2009 14:31

well im tall and fat so it's even harder.
But im 6'1 and was dancing around the store recently becasue i managed to get my normally size 254 butt into a pair of TALL jeans from new look that were a size 18.

the jeans are a nice fit and are actually long enough.

Next is ok for trousers but i find the sleeves on their tops aren't long enough.
Dotty P's isn't bad

bronze · 03/01/2009 14:31

about half an inch taller than you. Its sleeves I seem to have trouble with (and lack of money)

Next is hopeless for me M&s good for jeans

so x post

I'm about 5'11 and a half (the half counts)

I have a small waist and wide hips so feel your pain Mamazon

I really really want a nice knitted brown cardigan among other things but I have to shop online

OP posts:
bronze · 03/01/2009 14:33

sorry x post I mean

HarrogateMum · 03/01/2009 14:34

TopShop tall, Dorothy Perkins tall. I am 5 foot 11 too but my inside leg is about 35 inches so M and S and NExt tall ranges dont fit me (too short).

Not online - Zara.

Mamazon · 03/01/2009 14:34

jeez, i made myself even fatter than normal! im a size 24 normally.

I haven't had a winter coat for about 5 years because i can't find one with sleeves that fit.

plus im skint too so it doesn't help.

Long tall sally is ok at times but to be honest i find their stuff a bit, meh.

bronze · 03/01/2009 14:36

Agree about meh

these days it is sleeves isnt it. Now shops have sorted out tall ranges trousers are so much easier.

OP posts:
bronze · 03/01/2009 14:37

Don't know why I'm looking really tall maternity stuff its just the pits and out of my pricerange

Countingtheflocksbynight · 03/01/2009 14:43

I agree about Long Tall Sally.

I do buy their things in desperation but why oh why do they make everything in such cheap and nasty material? I wouldn't mind paying a bit more if the quality was a bit better tbh.

Tobermory · 03/01/2009 14:51

CFBY, agree re cheapness and nastiness of material from LTS. And really there stuff isnt that inexpensive. Im always pretty disappointed with the qulity of most of theiur stuff.

NEXT now do a tall range which is good though somewhat limited. Have bopught a couple of pairs of trousers from there....ahd to have them turned up!!!!! I wear a trouser with a 35" leg, and to have to take trousers up is a first for me. as both and also v

Dotty p's tall range..good and long but v limited

HarrogateMum · 03/01/2009 15:01

maybe Next have changed their tall range then....will have to have a look! Is it in stores or only online?

Tobermory · 03/01/2009 15:04

i havent seen it in any stores, so would assume only online.

It is new, a 'tall' range, as opposed to their so called longer length trousers that they used to do.
I have wondered for a while why they did not venture down that route, they have a pettite range for ages.

Tobermory · 03/01/2009 15:06

look here

Countingtheflocksbynight · 03/01/2009 15:13

Yes Tobermory - agree totally - meant to add that actually - LTS stuff isn't that cheap considering naffness of materials ... but I'd pay a bit more for one good dress or pair of trousers that lasted 3 years or so ...just because they are such a trial to find in a length that fits me ...

They are not one thing or another: neither quality or cheap. To be fair I suppose they are using more material for added length ... but nevertheless .. wouldn't have thought it would make that much difference to pricing ...

Also meant to add that Esprit (on-line) sometimes have some sports/yoga trousers in two lengths and sometimes trousers for ordinary daywear

Will look in Next when I am in UK ...thanks for tip

HarrogateMum · 03/01/2009 15:18

I have to say in defence of LTS - I got pyjamas from there for Christmas and they are lovely - and its so nice not to be wearing half mast pyjama bottoms!

Countingtheflocksbynight · 03/01/2009 16:40

Harrogate - yes, Amen to long pyjamas!! Especially in this freezing weather ...

In fairness too, I bought some tracksuit bottoms (active pant trouser type thing) from them last year or could have been year before in navy blue (mixed stretch cotton) and they have been brilliant - washed really well and I have worn and worn them ...

Bought the same this year and was so disappointed - the fabric is so thin in clings to your leg and crackles with static

So perhaps this cheapness of material is just a recent thing ...or confined to particular lines.

Also (sorry to continue bleating) the choice of colours seems to be black, black, black or the occasional grey if you are lucky ...

bronze · 03/01/2009 17:18

I find that the bodies of their trousers are always too long and I look like clown

OP posts:
HarrogateMum · 04/01/2009 13:31

agreed - I always felt like I looked like I had a nappy on when I wore their smart trousers!

used2bthin · 04/01/2009 13:39

Have any of you had any luck with longer length swimwear?

Countingtheflocksbynight · 04/01/2009 13:51

Haven't tried LTS swimwear but Land's End swimsuits are very good as they come in two body lengths plus an added bonus is that they hold everything in in the right places (esp the "tugless" range ...)

used2bthin · 04/01/2009 14:04

Oh do they? Thanks I will have a look there. LTS had a really nice tankini last summer but went out of stock almost as soon as it came in!

Countingtheflocksbynight · 04/01/2009 14:08

used2bin - a tip - Lands End have an entire section devoted to "tall" clothing ... best to search under that for swimwear - takes you directly to long bodied suits rather than getting tied up in swimwear section itself ...

used2bthin · 04/01/2009 14:10

Thank you thats what I just tried doing and it wouldn't let me, probably was searching in the sale or something I will try again.

BlueSapphire77 · 04/01/2009 14:12

LTS are ok-ish but the quality os often crap and they're not cheap. I use tallgirls.co.uk mainly, tallandall.com .. bit dodgy, good choice but the material they use for some items is cheap n nasty, their best items are clubbing gear satin trousers ect, i'm (lucky??) i have friends who are drag queens who are quite tall so they tell me where they get their gear from, this stuff is for nights out only though obviously lol

I'm 6ft 4 and size 14/16 by the way, so most recommended is tallgirls.co.uk..
LTS pisses me off cos their stuff, if you find something nice and good quality, is usually always sold out straight away...wounded!
And the choice of footwear is naff.
Sooo want the new boots tallgirls are doing
