NPS glad i could help as normally am crap with this sort of stuff.. can tell i don't buy myself much stuff lol everyone else here comes first.. Gutted

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 17:40

I'm 5'11 and get most stuff from New Look and the trousers/jeans can still come up long. My inside leg is 33.5 and they go up to a 36.

gibba8 · 04/01/2009 19:44

Mamazon-I also have looked for years for a coat that fit properly. I am 6" And do not like LTS. I got one last week from Next online from their tall range and it was in the sale £40 for a beautiful coat that fits in all the right places including arm length. They still had larger sizes in stock when I looked couple of days ago.

I always used to pay huge amounts for LTS swimwear which still did not fit properly but have got my last 2 costumes from asda-lovely fit.

I think New Look and Dorothy Perkins offer good value for money in their tall ranges.

PaddingtonBore · 04/01/2009 19:49

topshop tall. However the selection online is pitiful compared to in the largest stores - both Oxford Circus and Manchester have a good selection.

themoon66 · 04/01/2009 19:56

LTS - only buy when there is at least 50% off sale. Even then the quality is hardly worth the price.

Best of all for trousers in Zara.

I'm not as tall as some of you (5ft 8in) but I do have inside leg of 35in.

Gap jeans fit best.. they do long length.

BlueSapphire77 · 04/01/2009 20:51

38 inch inside leg here its a right sod bag
You would think maybe the government would look into the rip off prices normal people have to pay now because it seems that 6ft tall for a teenage girl is now practically the norm, and look at doing a country wide review of clothing sizes chance would be a fine thing
Agree LTS quality is poor especially for the price and there isn't a lot of choice either.
Its all aimed at middle aged ladies and none of it seems to be practical or suitable for the younger generation, unless they only want one outfit..not happening really is it lol.

Skywalker09 · 06/01/2009 08:41

Where would you recommend for decent thick tights for 5'11"? Am sick of tights that end up around my knees!

bronze · 07/01/2009 12:51

no idea sorry
I find tights difficult
they all have their tall as being 5ft 9 and size 8. As soon as you get a little fatter they get shorter if that makes sense

OP posts:
MumtoCharlieandLola · 07/01/2009 13:01

Tell you really makes me

I am 5'11 and i have large feet (size 9) but they are in proportion with the rest of me. I argue that if I had small feet, I woudl fall over.

But I do not want to be 6'5 so why, oh why, do shoe manufacturers, who have decided that they will be helpful and make shoes in a 43 (including Next, who have a v. wide range) and then give them whalloping great heels,

Size 9 shoes and 8 inch heels FGS !!!

Rant, rant rant

bronze · 13/01/2009 09:58

skywalker

anything on here for you?

OP posts:
RamblingRosa · 13/01/2009 10:34

I'm 5"8 (and a half!) but am quite leggy (I need 34" jeans in flats and 36" in heels). Zara is brilliant for trousers but I know their sizes aren't very generous and I'm not sure they go any bigger than a 16 so probably not much use to you. Topshop Tall jeans are brilliant.
For tights I often find it's better to go for a bigger size. I usually buy M&S large tights even though I'm a size 8...anything smaller ends up with the crotch around my knees .
I think topshop Tall range do tights. Long Tall Sally prob do too.

GrapeJelly · 13/01/2009 18:50

I'm with you on the high heels issue, Mum2C&L
I've come close to buying granny shoes more than once because I can't find anything else with less than 6" heels. Why is it so difficult to find 2 or 3" heels? Those of us who are 5'8 and above don't want to be another 8" bigger.

Just got my spring LTS catalogue and there was not 1 item in that I would buy. They really need to update their fashion and lower their prices!

treedelivery · 15/01/2009 16:57

Zara for trousers and New Look for stuff.

Went to Mamas and Papas for jeans as they do long, they had a size 6.

High heels on everything a nightmare. Frumpy clothes for tall people suck.

MrsMattie · 15/01/2009 17:16

I'm 5'11.

I buy jersey/yoga pants, leggings, PJs, black trousers from M&S in their longer length.

I buy jeans from Seven (if I'm flush), New Look (if I'm not), Top Shop & H&M.

When I'm in a 14+ phase (which I am right now as post-baby), I find Next good as they do longer lengths in bigger sizes (ditto M&S).

Zara & Monsoon both have the odd nice longer length stuff, too.

Not keen on most of LTS's stuff, although I quite like their coats and boots in the winter

TracyK · 15/01/2009 17:35

I've found the odd pair of trousers in River Island - they do up to a size 18 and in long length too. Their 16 and 18's are quite generous imo.

TracyK · 16/01/2009 13:22

I just picked up a nice soft wool (well acrylic) but feels like fine wool - from Asda yesterday - v neck for a fiver - and the sleeves are v. long!

Prob won't wash well and bobble - but for a fiver...
