Mascara - one that volumises (but not clumpy) lengthens and goes on nice and smooth - please advise me!

So, yes. Not clumpy, and makes my lashes look really long. Am running low on my virtose by lancome, and wondering if there are any others that I am discounting, when on they could be excellent. So, budget is around £20. Oh and would like it to be one coat everdaywear, 2 coats nighttime glamour.

I have been recommended maybelline great lash mascara, but already have that and don't like it.

My lashes are already not that short, but quite fine.

I have become addicted to Lancome Hypnose- £19 ish.
It makes me look as if I HAVE eye lashes and doesn't clump- but is easy to remove too.
Have tried Clinique a lot in the past but found they flaked off over the day.

clarebear1 · 27/12/2008 15:12

Bad gal lash form benefit £19.50 i think or yves saint laurent cant think what its called soz

idontlikesundays · 27/12/2008 15:13

Best mascara I've tried it Chantecaille. I've only tried a sample size, have a feeling it's probably a lot more than £20.

ihatethecold · 27/12/2008 16:18

best one is ruby and millie from boots, never smudges, costs £11 and comes of lovely. i love it

NorktasticNinja · 27/12/2008 16:28

Agree with honestfriend Lancome mascaras is fab - I have had both the Hypnose and the Virtuose, both I great but prefer the Virtuose.

AuntieMaggie · 27/12/2008 16:39

Ok, a question about the hypnose mascara - I bought the waterproof one and although it was fantastic to begin with it went clumpy much quicker than others I've tried. Are the non-water proof ones better?

cornsilk · 27/12/2008 17:01

I found that as well with the hypnose waterproof

honestfriend · 27/12/2008 17:56

Hypnose- the only thing I have found is that it doesn't seem to last long- reckon 3 months is the most I get out of it- but do use it every day and about 3 coats ( got very thin short lashes!)

MadameCastafiore · 27/12/2008 17:57

Estee Lauders new one Sumptous is brilliant lasts for ages and really makes your lashes look long but not thick and clumpy!

AuntieMaggie · 27/12/2008 21:28

I've also heard that the YSL mascara is good too. So do I try the Estee Lauder or the YSL?

BodenGroupie · 28/12/2008 05:13

Just bought Rimmel one in purple packaging - unusual brush but separates well, only £9.

Jewelsandgems · 28/12/2008 09:09

Well exactly auntiemaggie! I do already love lancome but you know when you just always buy theirs without thinking and then suddently wonder if any better ones are now around.

Oh and totally agree about hynose, I did really love that one, but it dried out much faster than I expected.

Also, checked out the mac website and they had a few - anyone tried those?

Estee Lauder Projectionist - its fab! Have tried YSL, and the E.Lauder Sumptous (sp!) and have ended up going back to the Projectionist - its really good imo

ssd · 28/12/2008 09:27

op, get yourself into boots, just now they have a lancome gift set at 12.50 which includes full size defincils mascara, small black khol pencil and small eye make up remover
I got one yesterday, was about to spend 19.50 on a mascara(talk about blowing my budget) but the assistant showed me the half price gift set instead, great value

its in a small clear box

Jewelsandgems · 28/12/2008 14:44

ssd excellent - that is a very good deal! I don't think my boots is big enough to have a lancome counter, but have checked online and it is available there too (but have to pay for delivery - still ends up cheaper)

OP posts:
cornsilk · 28/12/2008 14:51

what is the defincils mascara like?

ssd · 28/12/2008 19:28

used it today, no clumps first time used, separates and lenghthens

hope you get this bargain!

cornsilk · 28/12/2008 22:59

I looked online but couldn't find it.

christmaseve · 28/12/2008 23:03

All filmed with lash inserts. Get some lash inserts then you will look similar to the models.

AuntieMaggie · 29/12/2008 23:05

i noticed in the latest max factor mascara ad the models lashes look very natural after - looks like they ditched the inserts

CeceliaAhern · 29/12/2008 23:14

I am going to try Hypnose as it gets great reviews but I do like Avon SuperShock (cheap, volumising, unclumpy, unrunny)when I am buying my own, but Clinique as a gift

AuntieMaggie · 29/12/2008 23:20

OK - I'm confused.

Hypnose (though not the waterproof as it didn't last long) virtuose, defencils or l'extreme (sorry for spelling!)

oxocube · 30/12/2008 08:37

I got the Maybeline for Xmas but don't think much of it, sadly.

Jewelsandgems · 30/12/2008 09:36

Totally agree oxo.

And to add another one to the mix, has anyone tried Lancome Fatale?!
