God, my black number with the fur-edged hood is depressing me now spring seems to be here. But I need something for rainy days with the pram. Where might I find something to lift my spirits?

We-elll..if money is no object then yup, it's Boden

also

this one in the sale

No hoods though.

marthamoo · 22/03/2005 20:35

Just realised your title does say hood so scrap those. Souwester?

franch · 22/03/2005 20:42

Oh marthamoo I want something just like the Boden one (or anything Boden-y) but with a hood! Am I asking too much ??????

Smurfgirl · 22/03/2005 20:46

bit boring

in the sale

Smurfgirl · 22/03/2005 20:47

oh and this

franch · 22/03/2005 20:53

The 'bit boring' one is scarily like the one I've got that's getting me down, Smurf Beige won't do it either .... The green is the best, but not really my colour and I'd prefer to steer clear of furry hoods (for some reason) .... I'm asking the world, aren't I

I had a look around and all the macs are hoodless, M&S had a couple on their website...hmmm.

franch · 22/03/2005 21:01

Yeah, just had a look at M&S - hmm indeed

OP posts:
franch · 22/03/2005 21:03

Shall I just buy the Boden one and stick a Co-Op bag on my head???

PiccadillyCircus · 22/03/2005 21:03

I think there is a gap in the market for nice coats with hoods for buggy pushing mummies.

I want something nice as well (and I know I remember someone "recommending" an umbrella hat thing you can clip onto your head or something like that but that would be silly .

franch · 22/03/2005 21:05

Maybe we'll have to persuade Johnny Boden to design one for us - a hooded mac, that is, not an umbrella hat

OP posts:
PiccadillyCircus · 22/03/2005 21:06

Shall we start a petition?

franch · 22/03/2005 21:07

Yes!!!

OP posts:
marthamoo · 22/03/2005 21:11

I think you've had it - anything vaguely funky and not frumpy, Mumsy and anoraky has no hood. That's 'cos young hip and trendy folks have their hands free for an umbrella and are not wrestling with a buggy.

You could get one of those rain bonnets like grannies wear.

Got to make a choice here - dry and frumpy, or wet and hip.

marthamoo · 22/03/2005 21:12

I tried M&S, Top Shop, Debenhams, Next and LXDirect for you. Aren't I nice (and bored tonight)?

franch · 22/03/2005 21:12

Hmm, marthamoo you really think I can pull off wet and hip ....... I'm deeply flattered

OP posts:
franch · 22/03/2005 21:13

marthamoo you are very nice

OP posts:
marthamoo · 22/03/2005 21:13

I know

ja9 · 22/03/2005 21:15

perhaps you cld start a new trend in the rain bonnets? mym mum used to sell them in her hairdressing shop for 10p! whattdayathink?

franch · 22/03/2005 21:18

Well with my flair for pulling off 'wet and hip', I could set a trend in anything - just watch, the streets of North London will be teeming with gorgeous rain-bonnetted females by the summer

Just bumping in case the morning crowd has any bright ideas

OP posts:
aloha · 23/03/2005 09:55

Can anyone send this thread to Boden? It's a brilliant idea! I'm also house/car bound in the rain.

marthamoo · 23/03/2005 10:05

D'you know I was thinking the same thing, aloha?

franch · 23/03/2005 14:19

Right, I'm going to email this link to Johnny B right now

Let us know if you get a reply. He could make a Mumsnet mac - we would all be wearing it!
