Can I wear this dress to a wedding?

Pic on profile.

How would I accessorise it? Need advice on shoes, bag, jewellery, cardigan/shawl, everything really! Is black ok for a wedding?

The wedding is here and is an afternoon ceremony and evening reception. It is in December.

i dont think its dressy enough sorry

its like something you would wear on holiday at the beach

VinegarTits · 24/11/2008 15:18

Yes, a little black balero would be nice with it

VinegarTits · 24/11/2008 15:19

some nice strappy shoes and sparkly jewllery will jazz it up, i dont think its too casual

RedSparklersOnHerHead · 24/11/2008 15:22

I was going to say what a lovely dress - then I saw your pics of your DC's - They are so adorable!

I think the dress is lovely (I would wear it to a wedding and wouldn't wear something like that on the beach!)

I agree with bolero and nice jewellery.

claireybee · 24/11/2008 15:24

It is quite a dressy dress really, have worn it to a cocktail event before, just not sure about the blackness...

Perhaps the pic isn't doing it justice but it is definitely not a beach dress!

Hmm strappy shoes, that means cold legs right?!

Thanks Red

So would you say black bolero/shoes rather than using one of the ribbon colours?

wallis had a nice silver bolero thingy recently.

you can get silver shoes everywhere!!

same with bag...

I think that would look fab for a winter wedding.

BigTeuchLittleTeuch · 24/11/2008 15:29

cover-up

BigTeuchLittleTeuch · 24/11/2008 15:33

bargain shoes

thatsnotmymonster · 24/11/2008 15:34

wear that to a beach seriously?

I would definitely wear that to a wedding.

VinegarTits · 24/11/2008 15:36

love the silver balero but would go for black shoes myself, dont overdo the silver or it will take away all attention fom the dress

So black shoes and bag, sliver balero, sliver jewllery is what i would choose

TrillianAstra · 24/11/2008 15:37

I would recommend a colourful shawl or cardigan to offset the black. Some people think it's unlucky to wear black to a wedding, but as long as the bride isn't superstitious it should be fine.

thatsnotmymonster · 24/11/2008 15:38

I like the silver shoes but might cheapen it a bit? Also you may have black ones already and they are more versatile.

claireybee · 24/11/2008 15:45

My black shoes died on me the last time I wore them so need new shoes whatever.

Like that silver shrug teuch, the fact that it is lurex almost makes it demand silver platforms!

Hmm, think I need to take the dress shopping with me and see what looks best. Part of me is very attracted to sparkly silver shoes

Which beaches do you go to nailpolish, MonteCarlo?

cyteen · 24/11/2008 15:55

great dress, but i think you really posted this thread to show off your gorgeous kids

silver platforms would look ace, maybe a big chunky silver bangle too.

claireybee · 24/11/2008 16:10

LOL Cyteen, usually I just use them as my accessories but this is a child free wedding so it means I have to make a bit more of an effort

I think it's lovely. it would go really well with a jade green cardi and chunky gold jewellery

Miyazaki · 24/11/2008 16:14

Pretty.

Not beach wear. Cha!

claireybee · 25/11/2008 17:33

I was so jammy today. Went into town to look around and found some shoes in the EXACT colours of the greeny and goldy ribbons on dress. And they were reduced to £7!!!! Now I just need the rest of the outfit...

I know nowt about fashion but would wear that to a wedding with no qualms.

More importantly, how beautiful are your children?

LaTrucha · 25/11/2008 18:33

What about picking out the dark silver if you think the light is too disco?

Off to try and find...
