I keep reading about it. Please tell me more.

It's meant to be good for lazy cows who don't take their make-up off at the end of the day, as it doesn't sink into the skin. I use it and altho it's a bit 'powdery' (being powder ) I like it as it's coverage is ace.

DoubleBluff · 16/11/2008 18:47

I use the Loreal one. The coverage is good but looks like you havent got loads of make up on.

Maveta · 16/11/2008 18:51

I got the loreal one and was a bit disappointed, I have dry skin and find a really light tinted moisturiser loads better.

LittleMonkeysMummyIsASparkler · 16/11/2008 18:54

I was really disappointed by the Loreal one too. Far too heavy for my skin and patchy. I use one by bare escentuals. A bit pricy but by fr the best make up i've ever used.

captainmummy · 16/11/2008 18:58

I use lily lolo - I get it online.

bluebump · 16/11/2008 19:52

I used Lily Lolo which was fab for coverage etc but made my skin looks really shiny in photos for some reason!

Bare Escensuals are fab. Better than loreal IMO. One normal size lastestme a whole year and if you get hte starter pack you get small pots of blush and bronzer that last really well as well. Looks like you really aren't wearing make-up whilst making you look much better.

PtolemysMummy · 16/11/2008 20:03

Ohhh thanks everyone for replying. Interesting.

Lily Lilo is the one India Knight recs in her new book. Can you please link where I might get it online.

At the moment I use a tinted moisturiser - I don't really like full coverage foundation.

I am in two minds about the whole minerals stuff. I am a complete make up junkie and always wear it everyday. I bought some bare essentuals from QVC (you can send it back if you don't like it) and I have been using it for the last few weeks. It does look natural and does seem to stay on well but I am not sure it is any better than "normal" make up. No one has commented on my fabulous skin or anything!!!! The lilylolo one much more powdery than the bare essentuals one.

mankyscotslass · 18/11/2008 11:21

Another bare escentuals convert here. It's fab, I have rosacea and it gives good coverage without me feeling caked in it! But I would never buy from QVC, too expensive! There is a shop I have been using on Ebay, I get good deals there.

cmotdibbler · 18/11/2008 11:21

I use the Lily Lolo makeup and really like it. I have slightly oily skin, and it gives a very natural look as long as you use the right brush and polish it in as per the instructions. Their matte powder is great for photos.

Sparkletastic · 18/11/2008 11:23

I tried Lily Lolo but found it hard to get the coverage right - I looked a bit too made-up IYKWIM. Maybe I didn't have the right kind of brush.

Vulgar · 18/11/2008 11:28

Where do you get BareEssentials from?

Don't have QVC and want to test the colours first

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/11/2008 11:37

The Philosophy on is amazing, better than Bare Escentuals imo. And far less shades so less confusing. I have used mine every day and after two years it is still going strong.

smugmumofboys · 18/11/2008 11:49

I bought the Jane Iredale one and it's really good. It does have to be applied with a 'proper' brush though which is expenseive. You can only buy it from beauty therapists who stock it but it was, I think, one of the first in the field and is a 'skincare' make-up. My skin looks great with it on. It's really easy to apply.

boudoiricca · 18/11/2008 12:06

I bought the Bare Essentuals ones after friends raved about them and was v disappointed... I found the powder just sat on top of my dry skin and looked really obvious (and powdery as Captainmummy says ). I also found the range of colours rather limited and didn't match me, which didn't help.

I ended up giving them away...

OrmIrian · 18/11/2008 12:11

It didn't work for me. It made my skin look really dry and emphasised lines. When mixed with moisturiser it was OK but I guess that defeats the object.

electra · 18/11/2008 12:13

I like BareEssentials, personally, but it is maybe a bit dry for me in this cold weather. I think it is much better for your skin - I rarely get spots since switching to it, and I'm pregnant too.

Mumi · 18/11/2008 12:19

Got a whole set but end up mixing the foundation or concealer with water into a cream - or worse still, resorting to the tinted moisturiser - because otherwise it just sits on my skin like badly applied powder.

Once that's done though, the booster/matte powder looks great applied with a good brush

p1umpudding · 19/11/2008 01:15

I've used the foundations from BareEssentials and Lily Lolo and found them to be rubbish - no coverage and I looked blotchy after an hour as the foundation went very patchy.

The Lily lolo eyeshows are excellent and would definitely recommend them.

you can buy BareEssentials at QVC and if you don't like it, you can send it back.

I do have friends who used mineral foundations and they look fab, so I guess you just have to try them.

zazen · 19/11/2008 01:39

I use lily lolo and find it great. I use a clinique foundation though as I have oily skin and actually don't want to look too matt and made up IYSWIM.

The lily lolo range have tiny pots for 45p as a tester and they are really fab, can't go wrong.

I use a totally fab blusher from lily lolo and even though I had pneumonia in the summer people (and rather weirdly, the pharmacist dispensing my antibiotics and inhalers) thought I looked fantastic, and was begging my secret for looking 'so healthy'

zazen · 19/11/2008 01:40

Yikes, that's Lily Lolo
