No suggestions but shall watch this thread with interest as have just been flicking through the Laura Ashley catalogue looking at their sofa ... quite ££ though. BTW, did you order the Brindisi boots ggirl?

Amandoh · 31/10/2008 23:35

Have you had a look in Multiyork?

We bought this sofa (Not that pattern though) and the matching armchair a few months ago and it's really comfortable.

You get lots of choice on cushion fillings (foam or feather ect) and also what height you want the back cusions to be. All loose cover so great if you have pets or kids. and you can buy additional loose covers in other fabrics. Very handy if you redecorate.

lovely sofa amandoh-if we could just slice a grand off the price.DAmn

millie-am actually selling a LA sofa on ebay atm as it's too bulky for our room so need something cheaper as don't think I'll get anything close to the £££ we paid for it much to dh's annoyance

saw these boots as well but they're sold out in my size
will probably order the brindisi soon as have £20 off until the 5th

We got a mutliyork sofa, very comfortable and it lasted 10 years+. It was expensive but they offered 2 years interest free credit - it maybe worth checking their deals.

Amandoh · 01/11/2008 11:12

There's a Laura Ashley Christmas booklet doing the rounds in the glossies at the mo (I had one fall out of the new Marie Claire. Jessica Biel cover.)

Three 25% off of all home furnishings vouchers on the back of booklet to be used between the 14th and 23rd of November.

If you're thinking of another Laura Ashley sofa then a quarter off of full price is a good deal.

We have two Tetrad Alicia sofas we've owned since 1993/4. They are loose cover (washable cotton) in cream, can be washed at 40C. We are on our second set of covers (but that's our fault, the new set we've had for about 8-9 years and show no signs of wear).

SueW · 01/11/2008 11:32

I think that Multiyork are part of Wade Group. Depending on where you live it might be worth taking a trip to the upholstery manufacturers' factories in Long Eaton, on notts/Derbys border (J25, M1). Duresta, Wade Group and many other upholstery firms are around here and there are factories in the mills on the canal where you can pop in and get some great bargains.

SueW · 01/11/2008 11:33

(I'm sitting on a 3-seater sofa that I picked up for £199 in a factory sale!)

brimfull · 01/11/2008 11:55

wow that's a bargain sue-did you take it away with you?

Ggirl - me too, just sold knackered old chesterfield and want something cheap and nice.
Ektorp is nice looking but they suddenly stopped it being orderable on the website - do they do this regularly? I can't get to the shop

brimfull · 01/11/2008 12:16

where do you live FA?
,new store opening in Southampton in the new year

Flightattendant4 · 01/11/2008 12:23

oh, that's good - maybe they'll open one here then soon. Am in Kent - the channel end, so is about an hour or two to lakeside, which is our nearest I think. I just can't do it with my two lo's, my mother refuses to come!!!

I love So'ton btw. Lots of happy holidays there with g[parents as a child.

SueW · 01/11/2008 12:31

Can't remember if they delivered (£30) or my DB collected in his van.

I have a bit of a sofa habit.

brimfull · 01/11/2008 12:36

wish there was a factory outlet round here

we have a dfs leather corner sofa. very hardwearing and VERY comfortable reasonable price too. £1000 for a v large corner sofa and chair. Also offer interest free credit .

Flightattendant4 · 01/11/2008 16:40

I really would love a velvety Habitat one. We were there just now, they have one called Louis. It's over a grand even with 20% off though.

I'm going to wait for the sale and still not be able to afford it.

brimfull · 01/11/2008 17:48

oooh yes a velvet one

off to look at habitat website

OP posts:
Aefangedkiss · 01/11/2008 21:30

I have a habitat sofa, cost £650 9 years ago, just replaced it, but not happy with the cheap replacement, just because it is so much smaller, sigh. Can you wait for the sales? Habitat voucher in the Guardian today... I think it was for 20% off, but I didn't look too closely because our nearest Habitat is so far away

Flightattendant4 · 02/11/2008 16:21

Aefond, was it a lovely sofa while you had it?

I've seen a Habitat one go on ebay today for - well I haven't checked final price but itw as on £430 last I looked

It said it was quite mucky as well!

Ho hum

I could manage one if I never bought anything else for the next 5 years - possibly - but that's not very feasible!

dexter73 · 02/11/2008 17:23

We have two of these Abbey sofas in dark brown leather from M&S and they are great. We have a dog and they cope with her. Also spills can be just wiped off which is very useful.

suggy · 02/11/2008 18:41

You don't say how old kids are - i LOVE leather. Wipes clean (as long as its on the cheaper side of leather) and is forgiving... Could I just say buy a cheapy leather one and upgrade once there are less greasy fingies about !
