KatyMac · 23/10/2008 22:28

Should I give in & buy her one or two bits of reasonable quality (No17) acceptable colour make-up

Or should I hold firm

she's 11! Say "no, you are not having any. Now go and do your homework"

KatyMac · 23/10/2008 22:30

Oh I agree

But if I choose the colours they won't be fuchsia & sky blue

No I was right in the first place she doesn't need it

if she is desperate othrwise hang on another year..or two...

KatyMac · 23/10/2008 22:33

Dh is being singularly unhelpful

She does Comp Ballroom dancing & wears a very small amount of make-up for that

So he 'doesn't see the harm it would do'

I am old fashioned and I would say no as I think 11 is too young to be wearing make up.

Would she buy "You have eyelashes to die for, if you plaster crap on them it will ruin your look"?

elsiepiddock · 23/10/2008 22:53

Say no. She's too young.

UnfortunatelyMurderedMe · 23/10/2008 22:53

I would get her clear stuff, cheap, and hope the novelty wears off

FairyMum · 24/10/2008 07:29

Too young for mascara.

RideEmCowboy · 24/10/2008 07:59

Argh. She's 10. Say no.

Anna8888 · 24/10/2008 08:00

That's fine. How about Father Christmas brings her mascara?

FanjoForTheHellishMammaries · 24/10/2008 08:02

10 year olds in makeup look awful

Anna8888 · 24/10/2008 08:06

No they don't it's adorable

In clear mascara you would barely notice. This isnt for at school right?

KatyMac · 24/10/2008 08:28

God no not for school or weekend or youth club

For competitions & parties - maybe - but tbh I am leaning towards no anyway

OP posts:
ChopsTheDuck · 24/10/2008 08:36

for parties and competitions I really think it is fine. Is she a sensible type, who can be truisted to take care of it properly and not cause herself eye infections?

flowerybeanbag · 24/10/2008 09:42

I think 11 is way too young for make up personally.

MadBadandWieldingAnAxe · 24/10/2008 09:47

Trust your instinct. If you want to say no, say no.

janeite · 24/10/2008 15:59

Mascara for an 11 year old is totally inappropriate imho, clear or not. A bit of eyeshadow for playing or fancy dress is fine but no need for mascara even then.

procrastinatingparent · 24/10/2008 16:08

Not wanting to comment on the appropriateness or otherwise of mascara at 11, but I use a clear one from the Body Shop, which is great.

sagacious · 24/10/2008 16:10

Vaseline for shiny lashes

Searches for appropriate link to impress nearly 11 yr old....
