Denim skirt and Boden question

used2bthin · 09/10/2008 14:02

I reeeeally want a denim skirt to wear with boots and tights and flat boots. But I'm tall and all my pre pg ones are either too tight or too short now. So has anyone seen anything longer, sort of a couple of inches above the knee? New look had some in their tall section but my size is sold out. I bought the M and S one that someone linked to in another thread but it was too straight and tight, I want something more A line. Fat face has got one but its not quite what I'm after and quite pricey. So I thought I'll give in and order the Boden one but its out of stock in my size too! Does this mean they won't get more in now? Also not sure if that ones any good anyway as it says its a new straighter shape this year so may not be what I want. Surely it can't be that unusual a thing to want?

I got this one from Monsoon, it has a fishtail back, but may bee too long and swishy for you??

Tobermory · 09/10/2008 14:44

No links im afraid, but will be watching this thread with interest. I too am tall and would quite like a denima skirt as you describe for winter wearing.
I have however bought the boden velvet skirt with is FAB with boots, can't recommend it highly enough!!

here

I would imagine the Boden one is now sold out but it is worth keeping an eye on the stock levels as they may get returns. Perhaps ring them to see if they can help.

used2bthin · 09/10/2008 19:47

Thanks for the replies will keep an eye on Boden then. Although I'd rather spend less obviously. I was so excited when I saw the New Look one at £16 how annoying. Flutterbyw that skirt is lovely but yes want something sort of just above the knee really, thanks though. Tobermory the velvet skirt is beautiful, too smart for me these days sadly, I just want an alternative to jeans for toddler groups etc. I've got some tops already for it and thought it would be easy to find but its not!

Boden washed velvet skirt- I have got it, but don't you find you have to wear a slip? it creeps up my thighs at the front- I wish they had thought to line it!

Tobermory · 09/10/2008 20:56

Honestfriend.....don't own a slip!

honestfriend · 09/10/2008 22:01

TM- not really- I am managing without a slip, but only cos I haven't got one short enough!

Every couple of steps the blasted skirt rides 6 inches up my thighs and I am constantly tugging it down! It's driving me nuts

kt14 · 10/10/2008 11:03

used2bethin - Is the ff one you liked now in the sale? Just ordered the glacier one from there, down to £19.50 so bit more reasonable.

used2bthin · 10/10/2008 13:45

kt14 it wasn't yesterday but I will check now. Only thing is I think the 12 is now out of stock too this is madness there are none at all!

The skirt has completely disappeared from the fat face website now whats going on? Sold out maybe? There is a national shortage of denim skirts!

Don't know how tall you are but for about the past 13 years I've had a succession (on my 3rd at the moment) of denim skirts from Long Tall Sally. Their current one is called a Jerry A line skirt and it 38 inches so maybe too long?

used2bthin · 10/10/2008 14:17

OOh didn't think of them butthanks I will have a look, I'm 5.9 I think so not that tall by their standards but worth a try. I want it above my knees but not so short that you can see my knickers(although I will have tights on too!) Can't think how long 38inches is so will have a look on their website now. I'm still a bit cross with them that their boots start at size seven though as I need the height in the length of them but have got small feet for my height so need a five or six. Also they sold out of the tankini I wanted.

tassisssss · 10/10/2008 14:18

it's ankle length so not what you're after

used2bthin · 10/10/2008 14:20

Ah yes just seen it, thanks anyway!

chocolatedot · 10/10/2008 14:21

I would really like a gentle A line shaped one as described - is the Boden one straight or A line?

mrspink27 · 10/10/2008 14:22

Fatface denim skirt is half price now...

used2bthin · 10/10/2008 14:22

I think it is straight actually like the m and s one. It says new straighter shape this year. The new look one is in stock if you are size ten or under, its in their Tall section on the website. I sadly am not!

Sorry but bump! Cannot find one of these anywhere! Or a navy cardi but thats maybe another thread!

Any of these? Maybe the Miss selfridge one on the top row, or the South one just below?

used2bthin · 13/10/2008 13:24

Thanks Jackie but I think they are all too short or too tight apart from South which is too long! I want a line ideally and sort of mid thigh. It seems an impossible task! Am off to TK max later so hoping I may get lucky there as they seem to be unfashionable or something. I keep seeing people wearing them as I describe but can't buy one! Mind you maybe it is partly that I'm tall so the ones I see people wearing at that lentgh would be too short on me.

i love this shape too, fear it is out of fashion

kew have a very promising cord one in their catalogue but not in the shop yet or on their new shite. a bit like the wool one not straight like the denim.

used2bthin · 13/10/2008 13:35

Ah yes fishie that wool one is exactly the shape and length I'm after. Hope they do one in denim too although perhaps its not their kind of thing. I wonder if its worth me looking on ebay... Thing is I would rather try it on first ideally.

I love this Toast velvet skirt but it's very expensive and maybe too long for you.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 13/10/2008 13:41

too short? (I know the 12's out of stock online, but you could go to the shop)
