my mil has given me a small, square, incredibly soft and quite good quality black leather handbag

it is just the right size, is better quality than I can afford, feels so very nice and is in v v v good nick - like new

can I make it more exciting? or is boring black bag okay?

am bored by black bag. But like black bag. DYSWIM?

simple bag allows flamboyance in shoe dept surely

also good for doing minimal preppy neat and tidy look

would keep in handbag repertoire

Cappuccino · 08/10/2008 22:18

I am not minimal or neat and tidy

nor can I afford flamboyant shoes

LetThemEatCake · 08/10/2008 22:19

Gok would add a corsage. Can you add a corsage?

majeika · 08/10/2008 22:19

sequins?

fake flower?

RedOnHerBeheadedHead · 08/10/2008 22:20

stick on crystals?

PeaMcLean · 08/10/2008 22:21

Yes, a corsage. there are some that are just fab and I would like an excuse to have one. I went shopping for corsages last week. Saw some gorgeous stuff in the little shops in the arcades (ie not the main department stores).

mazzystartled · 08/10/2008 22:21

it may just be useful with certain outfits though, no?

don't go putting a corsage or anything on it or it will look really shite

mazzystartled · 08/10/2008 22:21

pmsl at cross post

Cappuccino · 08/10/2008 22:22

this is what I am thinking

but I fear I would make it look like a child had bedazzled it

OP posts:
Cappuccino · 08/10/2008 22:23

okay

fab vs shite

let's choose

OP posts:
mazzystartled · 08/10/2008 22:24

what's your usual style like?

if you have one

PeaMcLean · 08/10/2008 22:25

We need to see the bag. It's the only way.

Can you find a link to something similar?

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 08/10/2008 22:25

Perhaps a fairly minimalist corsage in shades of grey (like the make-it-yourself fascinators on last night's fashion prog)?

snowleopard · 08/10/2008 22:25

Not that I know anything about this, but can't you get bag charm thingies that you hand on your bag, like little tassels and beady bits? (I remember seeing them in Grazia or some such and thinking "how pointless are they?" but actually...) Or you could make something like that with a few beads from a bead shop.

snowleopard · 08/10/2008 22:26

hand = hang

Cappuccino · 08/10/2008 22:26

oh yes we have great bead shop

LetThemEatCake · 08/10/2008 22:41

please don't bedazzle.

buy a couple of corsages, diff colours - and don't attach too firmly, let them be interchangeable

JackieNo · 08/10/2008 22:43

I agree with letthemeatcake - don't do anything you can't undo, so to speak.

Bobbiewickham · 09/10/2008 10:02

Attach silk scarf to strap.

Can chop and change to suit different outfits then.

This is v trendy, am led to believe.

NappiesLaGore · 09/10/2008 10:20

bobbie is right - tie a silk scarf onto the handle.
you can change it any time you feel like it
is WAY WAY less...um....shitey (sorry!), then corsage or beads and blingy things.

scarf would even be cool. or trendy. or whatever the sodding word is these days.

squeaver · 09/10/2008 10:24

Just use it for evening with funky clothes that don't need anything else.

And WALK AWAY from the corsage.

Cappuccino · 09/10/2008 10:24

god really wow

because my first thought was scarf but thought would look weird

OP posts:
MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 09/10/2008 11:05

So are silk scarves tied to bag straps 'on trend'?

Bobbiewickham · 09/10/2008 11:14

Yeah, get a purple one.

Knock 'em dead, capp.

NappiesLaGore · 09/10/2008 14:11

i have a black and white skull print one, alexander mcqueen ripoff i believe... i am soooo cool.
