I like but have next to blown the budget on my dress.... are there cheaper versions of this bag around?

Do you think that kind of thing is the right way to go to make the dress look good???

I am so delighted I found this style and beauty discussion area - I no longer need to send my family crazy with my constant style self doubt and panics - just you lot instead!!!!

Thanks mners - It isn't a chore and is fun choosing styles with you!!! x x x

Sorry have no idea about cheaper versions of the bag

Jewellery wise I would go for Pearls, they've become popular again this Autumn and with the cream in the dress would compliment the outfit really well.
Due to the style of neck on the dress I would go for a choker length necklace and finish off with a nice bracelet to match.

You're going to look very elegant

  • actually I usually am the dressed down slightly scruffy one in my family but seeing as it is my sister's big day I want to make a really big effort!!!

Good idea regarding pearls. My sister is wearing v funky gold storm jewellry so perfectly that leaves pearls for me!!!

The idea of trying to be formal was quite scary for me - until... tillyscoutmum sent me towards style and beauty - it is fun choosing an outfit online with you lot!!!! You have changed a chore into a game!!!! Tee hee!!!!

LOVE the dress. Do you think you would need a necklace? Why not go for a chunky black bracelet, which you could probably pick up quite reasonably at Accessorize or any of the high street stores that do jewellery? Shoes would go with some simple black court shoes. I like Next shoes and they're very reasonable (just had a quick peek at Next and wondered about these which look like they'd pick out the colours in the dress. Plain black ones would perhaps be more practical? Bags - would check out TK Maxx if you have one nearby.

John Lewis also have some reasonable clutch/evening type bags - start at about £20. for example

teafortwo · 06/10/2008 10:45

oh thank you!!!!

I have some nice black court shoes with cut outs in the front.

If I wear them, a chunky pearl bracelet and a biggish (to make room for the Mummying a two year old stuff)clutch bag would be good.

What about hair - At the moment it is a bob - slightly longer at front and shorter at back with layers for movement and a soft fridge. By the wedding it could have grown enough to wear twisted up behind with a clip - or I could have it cut in a different style....

Ideas???

what a lovely dress!

TillyScoutsmum · 06/10/2008 10:53

T42 - I would be tempted to leave your hair in its bob style and maybe wear a fascinator or hair comb like this ?

teafortwo · 06/10/2008 11:19

I think keeping my choppy bob would be good too!

What about make up?

I tend to wear very little. Would it be good to have a barely there look - or does the dress need more?

I would say that a black dress needs eyeliner and mascara at the very least. Also lipstick is a must.

teafortwo · 06/10/2008 11:35

I quite like the 'smoky eye' look - is it doable and appropriate for said dress and said occassion???

OP posts:
teafortwo · 06/10/2008 11:40

I think I mean 'smokey eyes' - I was thinking of doing both!!! Not just one! Ha ha ha!!!

Hey - thanks again for all your help! I will worry about make up nearer the time!

Bye for now

Wow - love the dress. And great idea for pearls. You will look very elegant TFT

teafortwo · 07/10/2008 12:09

Thank you ladies - I love the idea of matching berry coloured shoes and bag - but my budget has been blown - I can't afford to buy the LK Bennett dress and LK Bennett bag and shoes - but I think they are nice. Claarrrsiii (ha ha ha)

Where have you seen these berry coloured shoes around- maybe they have matching bags too hanaflowerate3scones?

Ha ha ha because of your name - I have brilliant image of a little rabbit in a hat!!!!

I thought a hat would distract from the loveliness of the dress - do you agree???
