boys have been wering their cotton lined waterproofs but it's starting to fel very chilly now.

ds1 needs a new coat-ds2's from last year should be ok.

but if i pull them out now-will they feel the benefit whenit gets REALLY cold?

also vests? it's roasting in school so will vests be too much? but cold outside? it's all a bit of a conundrum.

Yep sent dd off in last year's coat today. Hopefully it will see her through the winter.

OrmIrian · 03/10/2008 11:32

Yes. It was freezing this morning. Don't think they wear them at all once they get to school as it warms up but the walk to school is v nippy.

allgonebellyup · 03/10/2008 11:33

mine have been wearing theirs since start of term

Neeerly3 · 03/10/2008 11:35

we are in vests, but not coats yet - they wear fleecy hoodies with body warmers over the top - this should do til I find some nice winter coats for less that £40 a pop.....

themildmannneredjanitor · 03/10/2008 11:36

have seen nice puffa jacket thing for ds2 in zara for 12.99!!!!

I am going for the techno approach this year
ie fleece then relatively light waterproof/windproof on top
can wear either layer alone or together dependent on conditions

I am a vests fan but not yet imo unless you are in the north maybe?

ladytophamhatt · 03/10/2008 11:38

hippipotami · 03/10/2008 11:40

I usually try to hold off with the winter coats until after half term. But it was chilly this morning...

Podrick · 03/10/2008 11:40

hail

clumsymum · 03/10/2008 11:41

not Vests yet tho'.

It's cold out, but the sun shining thru windows makes it warm inside.

Save vests for those bitter grey damp days when the winter has really got going.

Simplysally · 03/10/2008 11:41

My dd wears a vest all year round unless it's about 90 in the shade .

I've put her into last year's coat which should tide her over until Christmas.

cheesesarnie · 03/10/2008 11:42

lol cornwall.were holding off on gloves and scarfs for a bit though

themildmannneredjanitor · 03/10/2008 11:42

winter coats here today.

bright and sunny at last, but there is a pretty strong breeze and it's about 9 degrees.

our nursery takes them out in all weathers so they're both in vests, too.

GobbledigookisThrifty · 03/10/2008 11:43

mmj - I'm getting teh Zara puffa for ds1 after my friend told me about it.

Tis v. cold here this week. Boys have really needed a coat but ds1 only has a raincoat atm - poor thing!

mumhadenough · 03/10/2008 11:43
