What foundation do you wear?

I have recently bought the L'Oreal mineral makeup, but have decided it is too heavy and cakey looking on my skin.
I think I need a liquid foundation again, but which one?
Am mid-forties, normalish skin, some broken veins to cover up and v dark under-eye circles.
What do people like, ideally under £10, but will spend more for a guaranteed miracle-working formula!

I've been searching for the perfect one for years.....after spending a fortune, my current favourite actually cost £4.99- it's the Revlon Age-Defying for Dry skin- it makes my skin feel so soft and sort of smoothed.....Used to like Lucidity but they changed the colour and I looked like a WAG.
Have also heard great things about the Vitalumiere....might give that a go when I'm rich again!

Max Factor Aidapt is good, not too heavy and blends in with skin tone. Is about £11 though but you can buy on ebay or get offers in shops (sometimes superdrug) or get a free product in boots if you buy it, but only occasionally.

Ratface · 28/09/2008 13:39

something for old age skin from boots.
seems to make me look slightly less haggard.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 28/09/2008 13:40

i use NO7 intelligent foundation for evening out etc, as it blends very well with my skin tone... on every day basis i just use a tinted moisturiser from avon!!

schneebly · 28/09/2008 13:43

tesco barabara daly stuff with virgin vie loose powder..when I can be arsed

Ratface · 28/09/2008 13:43

i used to use the intelligent one. tis v good. but im too old and dry now

maidamess · 28/09/2008 13:48

I've given up with foundation...I use Protect and Perfect No 7 and just pop concealer where I need. I reckon foundation makes one look older.

PavlovtheCat · 28/09/2008 13:50

Chanel - something or other, along with clinique luminator thingy for the bags under my eyes.

schneebly · 28/09/2008 13:50

lady - I heartily reccomend the virgin powder. Everyone at the aprty I was at tried it on and we all looked better instantly. A bit over budget but worth it IMO and a nice brush attached for application shop.virginvieathome.com/product.aspx?p=cosmetics-skin-correcting-loose-powder&id=3114&q=1

cornsilk · 28/09/2008 13:53

I also use the chanel one. Am looking for a good powder to wear over it.

MuffinMclay · 28/09/2008 13:57

Clinique (but probably costs more than £10).

The only one that doesn't give me eczema.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 28/09/2008 14:03

sorry ratface- must be my young and supple 23yo skin that can cope with the no7

BTW last time i bought my foundation it was in 3 for 2 at boots, so i spent £16 i think and got the foundation (£9 alone), high lights illuminating powder, and got some full impact mascara which i think is a real bargain!!!

MoreSpamThanGlam · 28/09/2008 14:06

Lancome all day long!
Have made far too many mistakes with other crappy ones!

Hulababy · 28/09/2008 14:14

Virgin Vie one step base

Ratface · 28/09/2008 15:06

belcantwait · 28/09/2008 15:10

chanel vitalumiere its fabbo!

ghosty · 28/09/2008 15:12

I use the Bare Minerals ... it takes a bit of practise to get the right application (too little doesn't do anything and too much looks chalky) but I love it now ...

Soapbox · 28/09/2008 15:15

The same as ghosty for everyday use - I find you need to really buff it on as in the demos or it will look cakey! I need to use a skin primer underneath - currently the philosophy one.

For evening I use a smashbox liquid one which gives more coverage.

ghosty · 28/09/2008 15:19

Soapbox, I find that the kabuki brush gives great coverage for evening ...

Soapbox · 28/09/2008 15:24

I use the kabuki brush for day time and the coverage is fine. I just find the smashbox one gives me a more flawless, glowing look which works better for the evening. Tis my age I suspect

PinkPussyCat · 28/09/2008 15:26

Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. It's the only thing I've tried that actually lasts all day!

pinkspottywellies · 28/09/2008 15:31

Yves Saint Laurent Perfect Touch foundation. Come with a brush and you squeeze the foundation through the brush, using more for heavier coverage or less if you don't need it.

It's not cheap but lasts really well and is fab. If you go to your YSL counter they will try it on you so you can live with it for the day and see what you think.

girlsnextdoor · 28/09/2008 17:12

Clinique time and again- they have masses of formulations- there must be one you can use.

I use Repair Wear, but have also used Dewy Smooth and they have anew one out- Superfit which is supposed to be good- or there is the best seller one called Balanced (?) I think.
