What do you think?

Or would you just look like an overgrown toddler??

They are good if slim fitting and in a stylish colour.

Botbot · 19/09/2008 10:49

I bloody love duffel coats, but avoid them for the very reason you suggest. Am a bit tubby which would make the effect even worse. Had a bright turquoise one when I was about 17, but I could get away with it then.

PeppermintPatty · 19/09/2008 10:55

TDWP - what would you call a stylish colour?

I love them too Botbot. And they are v practical.

If you want a warm coat with a hood it seems the choice is either a duffle coat or a parka ATM. And I don't really like parkas.

I have a green Laura Ashley one. I don't think I look like an overgrown toddler

soren I'm sure you don't. I like the idea of green too.

I saw some on toshop website - they have black, red and sea green (which looks kind of turquoise to me).
Red would definitely be toddler territory I think.
And black is boring.
Not sure about sea green though...

It's not a duffle coat I know, but has a hood.

Duffle coats as in Paddington bear stylee?

If so, NO, DON'T DO IT !

PeppermintPatty · 19/09/2008 11:05

Oooo love the Roxy coat.

The buttons don't go all the way down though.

My lower half would be drafty!

I am a wimp when it comes to cold / rain

Have just bought a gorgeous green one from SimplyBe - I am rotund but I love my duffle coat. It's a great classic style IMO - anyhow, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks: I like it!

SorenLorensen · 19/09/2008 11:07

This is mine

discantus · 19/09/2008 11:16

Definitely yes! Did anyone see Cameron Diaz's duffel coat in 'The Holiday' - she looked so good! Actually her entire wardrobe in the movie is my winter inspiration!

discantus · 19/09/2008 11:18

oops forgot to add the link for my post above. I so want to look like this for the winter

Lovely - a perfect coat

cupsoftea · 19/09/2008 11:22

a white duffel coat - for the very brave!!

discantus · 19/09/2008 11:24

Hi Cupsoftea - I prefer the fawn coloured one on Cam on the left - much more forgiving (and this was the only pic I could find)

cupsoftea · 19/09/2008 11:24

check out these - so many colours www.gloverall.com/acatalog/Gloverall_On_line_Ladies_Styling_6.html

cupsoftea · 19/09/2008 11:25

lovely colour discantus

JackieYoHoHo · 19/09/2008 12:34

Not sure about duffle coats, but I did spot some lovely sheepskin and leather jackets and coats at Celtic Sheepskin. And the kids duffle coat is cute, though more of a jacket, really.

brimfull · 19/09/2008 22:29

I hate them

Sazisi · 20/09/2008 00:28

I think they look good if you have a nerdy librarian-chic thing going on. And better with short hair..
