Not long enough norkmaiden. Thighs get soaked

pushchair · 05/09/2008 19:54

Actually I quite like the muji one too but would have to go to London to look at it

norkmaiden · 05/09/2008 19:55

It's not too bad pushchair - was quite pleased with how dry I stayed today, considering downpour!!

traceybath · 05/09/2008 19:56

i have ordered this one today

its vvv expensive but i am sick of getting bloody soaked

will let you know if its any good

HaventSleptForAYear · 05/09/2008 19:58

waterproof world

I have the short one at the top of the page - it's V. waterproof and well-designed (can't really see it from the pic but I trust this company - my kids' waterproofs are from there).

I see that they have full-length ones now (scroll down).

norkmaiden · 05/09/2008 20:01

Haventslept - the full-length one looks quite good. Colours not for me, though.

pushchair · 05/09/2008 20:04

Should say, I have a hip length jacket that is seriously uncool and my thighs get soaked. I think it it when the water starts running down the jacket and drips onto legs.
Have even more seriously uncool long cagoul which does a good job but I get LOOKS.
Have v.lovely long brown woolen coat which is qute water repellant but once it is soaked it takes ages to dry
Have a hat.
Would like ONE garment to cover all the bases.

norkmaiden · 05/09/2008 20:06

yes, I thought it was too warm still for proper winter wool (and waterproof!) coats, but judging by how cold I feel this evening maybe it's time to wheel them out!

No heating on yet

pushchair · 05/09/2008 20:07

Haventslept coat not for me either- like the wristies!

HaventSleptForAYear · 05/09/2008 20:15

Err yes at the wristies.

Not sold on that coat either, my short one is ok for the dash from the car to the school but would feel a bit conspicuous in that one.

Thought it might suit someone though!

maidamess · 05/09/2008 20:23

The Muji one is dead long and will cover you down to your knees.

It just won't win any prizes at London fashion Week.

But who cares when its pissing down?

Shortcircuit · 05/09/2008 20:26

I quite like it. Might be embarrased first couple of wears, but I'm sure the smugness of being dry will make up for it

I think it's a sign of the times - everyone in a car - that we can't buy practical macs.

NappiesGalore · 05/09/2008 20:30

am liking the muji one so far...

NappiesGalore · 05/09/2008 20:32

website bloody unhelpful tho re sizes... wanna know what size is s/m/l...

pushchair · 05/09/2008 20:47

Seem to remember muji small being v. small due to japanese origins?

NappiesGalore · 05/09/2008 21:36

hmmm... dont wanna order large and find its tentlike... may sed my sister on a recce to find out. she'll be chaper/quicker than muji mail order delivery anyway (have used before coz i luuuuurve muji)

runnyhabbit · 05/09/2008 21:50

may I suggest this
I've been on the lookout for something a bit different, in preparation for the school run. (pfb starting school next week, any excuse to buy new clothes)

runnyhabbit · 05/09/2008 21:52

or this

WilfSell · 05/09/2008 21:54

Ah. I thought we were rejecting Boden currently because of leakage?

runnyhabbit · 05/09/2008 21:56

oh, didn't know about leakage.

Shame. They've been only ones I've seen and really liked.

WilfSell · 05/09/2008 21:57

There are about three threads on coats currently

But about a week ago there was a thread with lots of feedback about one of the Boden macs being unwaterproof. Not v good given their expense. They do look lovely though (if plain IMHO, I can't abide all the loud prints in a coat)

LittleBella · 05/09/2008 21:59

I have this

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/09/2008 21:59

Seems like you can't look good and stay dry.

WilfSell · 05/09/2008 22:02

no Saggar, you can: Landsend stadium squall or northface W Grace parka (but only available in US apparently)

Problem solved!

pushchair · 05/09/2008 22:05

you can look good and stay dry but apparently only if you take out a second mortgage!
