swimming with a pair of shorts on over their costumes, would you think:

a) nothing of it?
b) how odd!
c) what's she hiding?
d) I would wear that too if I was that fat?
e) bet she needs a wax!
f) do I have a bottle of wine in the fridge or should I get one on the way home?

I had a bloody brilliant time!! For the first time in about 3 years my husband, son and I went into the pool together. My son loved it and as soon as we got in, he said that he wanted to come again!

Yes, I wore shorts. No, I did not care! Of course there were all shapes and sizes there and of course no one laughed - or at the very least they were discreet and did it without my knowing. Nobody asked me why I was wearing shorts.

I loved it! Thanks for all of your help!

We will be going again next Saturday.

I would not think anything, shorts or no shorts. round our way lots of teenagers wear shorts swimming so I would think you were young and trendy

cmotdibbler · 01/09/2008 09:54

yay for you ! I have a tankini (may Cod forgive me) which has proper loose shorts (and a brief underneath) as I prefer something more covering as I leap out of the pool to retrieve my toddler, and don't want to flash everyone.

The only people I judge are those wearing teeny bikinis (no matter how fat or thin, it just ain't right on a wet Sunday afternoon at family swim, cos they don't swim in them), and the couple of lairy dads in speedos - and walk around in the toddler pool in them, putting their lunchboxes at my eye height...

I see a few of these down our local pool.

OrmIrian · 01/09/2008 14:43

Good for you numberfour.

IME most people in the pool are more or less overweight. And it doesn't seem to matter. In fact in our pool anyone who isn't is more likely to cause comment

MrsFluffleHasAWuffle · 01/09/2008 14:50

There was a rather mature lady at the pool last week with her swimming cossie on over a pair of leggings wish I had though of that!! Would have saved horrid bikini stubble rash from a quick dry swipe of the Gillette in a painced hurry
