Dressing sisters in the same outfit: Naff or cute?

That's it really. Since having 2 DD's I've been filled with an overwhelming urge to ocassionally dress them in matching outfits. I'd always thought this was unbelievably twee and am quite shocked at myself. Is it unforgiveably naff? They're 2.9 and 9m by the way - eldest would love it, youngest wouldn't care / notice.

I think it's cute occasionally but not all the time. I have 2 boys and do it sometimes or a similar outfit. The get dirty too quickly to constantly march them

if it makes you happy and teh kids dont care - do it. who cares what anyone esle thinks?

bit naff i think. i've seen a few kids baby groups whose moms are friends and they dress their kids to match and they aren't even related, very naff.

When my sister and I were 6 and 3 my mum made wedding outfits for us and her out of what looks to me like hard wearing, floral, curtain material. I really treasure the memory and the photos.
I say go for it and get yourself something matching while you're at it.

I've just given my Mum permission to buy some matching stuff if she wants. To be honest, I think that by the age that it's naff, DD1 will not be impressed anyone, so it should be self-limiting.

Mine are dressed the same today they actually ask to wear the same clothes (they are 4 and 2 1/2) if one gets say a pink dress the other one wants one too. It's annoying when I want DD2 to waer some DD1 hand me downs as then DD1 will want to wear the same too. They probably only wear the same about twice a week though.

LoL at noitsgrubby! My Mum and I had matching acrylic tartan ponchos (the first time round in the 70's)!

naff. but what does my opinion matter

hmm, I sometimes dress my two boys in the same top but in different colours...probably steering dangerously close to naff but who cares! (actually they choose their own clothes and don't very often end up with co-ordinating tops so it is self limiting beyond a certain age).
My mum used to dress my brothers (18 months apart) in exactly the same clothes. A bit strange if you ask me, but she probably just did it to save time as she was not exactly fashion conscious

i hated being dressed the same as my siters when i was young so i always vowed and told my mum that i would never iflict such embarrassment onto my own children

okay i do but in my defence dd2 is too young to know any different and dd1 likes it, thats why i bought matching outfits, she asked for them. i will not be making them wear matching outfits into their early teens ala my mum as i still shudder with emabrassment when i remember those micky mouse leggings and jackets. they may have looked cute on my younger siblings but i was 12!! oh the pain.

My mum used to get my sister and I the same things, but in different colours. We both hated it, especially as one of us always ended up with the bum colour that we hated, and we grew up to have very different tastes in clothes.

Saying that, it's fine for the odd occasion like weddings or other family celebrations but not for everyday.

I have 18 months between my two girls and I have never been tempted to dress them in matching outfits.

My dds wore the same dress to my cousin's wedding earlier this year, but other than that, I don't buy them the same stuff (mainly because dd2 wears dd1's hand-me-downs).

I do have an aunt who buys them matching fleeces, jumpers, dresses etc. every Christmas though.

I too, hated being dressed like my sister and swore never to do it. Unfortunately the urge is too strong, and I have been tempted to do it occasionally to my two DSs (like for nursery pictures) - let's face it, they won't let me do it very soon

I was thinking of it for just the odd wedding or party. Mostly they both wear hand-me-downs or NCT sale bargains so it's not an issue.

Have to admit have already bought them each the same dress in the boden sale, so now have to decide if can wear together or in strict rotation!

My two oldest dd's used to LOVE dressing the same! They use to bug me and bug me for matching outfits and i must admit they looked sooooooooo cute

My eldest will not entertain the idea of dressing alike now - she looked like this when i picked up matching t-shirts earlier today!

They are now 8 and 5 (youngest is only a baby) though. Go for it, i bet your dd1 will love it

My mum used to do that and I really really hated it.

My friend bought her two matching swimming cozzies for their summer holidays. I thought it was really cute, but wouldn't do it all the time.

But what if they actually cry as one has on a red spotty top and one doesn't? Or one has Peppa Pig PJs and the other has Fifi? Things like that are a major disaster in our house.

My wierdy mother used to do it and continued until we were in our teens( and matching outfit for my 9yr my junior sister as well)
