Dressing sisters in the same outfit: Naff or cute?

That's it really. Since having 2 DD's I've been filled with an overwhelming urge to ocassionally dress them in matching outfits. I'd always thought this was unbelievably twee and am quite shocked at myself. Is it unforgiveably naff? They're 2.9 and 9m by the way - eldest would love it, youngest wouldn't care / notice.

My MIL still buys her two boys matching jumpers every Christmas. Since they don't look remotely alike they look like a gay couple when they're in the pub! Tis funny/ a bit sad!

My 3 dd's love wearing matching outfits, although it is difficult to buy in three different sizes.

I have a 4 1/2 year gap between my girls. My eldest waited so long for her precious sibling to arrive that she loves wearing the same outfit as her baby sister. I suspect it is similar in her case as dressing your dolly in the same outfit as you. She even requested a onesie in the same design as one of her baby sister's sleepsuits. They tend to wear the same atm for special occasions, not every day. I'll stop when older DD isn't keen anymore. And there will be a 4 year gap before DD2 fits in the matching hand me down which isn't too bad.

Naff.

I used to do it when travelling long haul. I'd dress them the same in something bright. It made them easier to spot if one tried to wander off during airport transfers.

Heratnumber7 · 04/01/2017 19:35

cute Naff.

EmmaC78 · 04/01/2017 21:37

Sorry I think it is naff as well.

My mum used to dress myself and DSis the same ALL the time when we were little. I hated it for as long as I can remember and now I have 2 DD's of my own I dress them similarly (maybe same t-shirt or wearing a similar style skirt) very very occasionally but only because DD1 has asked. I have a friend with 3 DD's and they're always dressed the same. It makes me cringe tbh. I think a lot of how I feel is obviously related to when I was little though!

Chelazla · 04/01/2017 21:53

I hate it it honestly out of my friends am only one! They all love it and all my it! My bf dressed her boys 3 years apart like it every single day until ds1 started school.

Ohyesiam · 04/01/2017 21:59

It's good on special occasions.
My sister and I were sometimed dressed the same till I was about 5. I absolutely adoted my big sister, so loved being dressed like her! Or same outfit in different colors.

Ohyesiam · 04/01/2017 22:00

Adored , not adoted

BackforGood · 04/01/2017 22:33

Naff. However, if you really have to do it, do it now and get it out of your system, while they are still little - the older they get the worse it is.

FairytaleOfSkegness · 04/01/2017 23:13

Me and my little sister (5 year age gap) were never really dressed the same as children apart from when our nan brought us some Christmas dresses once and we loved them!

Now when we go on holiday together we try and match our evening dresses to complement each others colours and style. We're probably just really weird and sad though Blush

Princesspink999 · 04/01/2017 23:20

Gorgeous occasionally - do it now - it is naff when they're older. You might regret it if you don't!
