Do you get changed into 'house' clothes when you get in? And what are they like?

Or are we weird?

Me and dh HAVE to get changed when we arrive home or don't feel comfortable.

We wear appalling clothes round the house.
I would be embarassed to answer the door, tbh.

i have house clothes yes, i usually have a shower when get in from work, or swim on way home. but they aren't unattractive or stained, usually something which has been relegated like old ghost skirt or slightly-too-big jeans with tshirt. and flip flops or woolly socks in winter. i also put on spare glasses.

i would never ever ever wear nightie in the day, do not even own a dressing gown.

I need to change out of my work 'uniform' (ie suit) when I get in - it helps me switch off. Usually into something v.daggy like a tracksuit or my PJs, but anniemac has made me think I am living up to my moniker a bit too much!!!!

Likewise, when working from home I have to get dressed up in work clothes to switch me from slob mode to work mode.

fishie · 08/08/2008 09:27

yes me too, i need to leave the working day outside.

I put on either PJ's or my thai fisherman trousers which are like baggy pants that tie up so they are very loose.I used to have some 'lounge wear' from HomeMama that someone bought me as a present which I used to love changing into-it felt very decadent as it was a silky track suit type thing..but then I had dd2 and now im too fat.So baggy PJs it is..but they are always quite nice ones.

girlnextdoor · 08/08/2008 19:54

I have some NEXT black jersey trousers which I wear with either a very old Boden lamby fleece or a T shirt, depending on weather.
and old slippers.

MommyHasaHeadache · 08/08/2008 19:55

Yes - depending on what time it's either trakkie bottoms and a t shirt (nothing I would be embarrassed answering the door in) or my pj's.

girlnextdoor · 08/08/2008 19:57

You might have heard it- old Paul Daniel's joke- ( he's old and the joke is)

Man A"she opened the door in her nightie"
Man B "What an odd place to have a door".

Funny the 1st time round, I thought

AuntieMaggie · 08/08/2008 20:01

I change out of my work clothes when I get in - if I'm not going out again I put my PJ's on or if I have things to do (like cooking or watering the garden) I put a pair of tracksuit bottoms on and a top - in winter it's joined by a warm fleece and fluffy socks! Doesn't look very glam but as long as I am warm and comfy who cares?

tigermoth · 08/08/2008 20:04

I take off my bra, put on a black stretchy cotton smock top and a pair of stretchy cotton trousers.

moondog · 08/08/2008 20:04

I can't believe that sal has six dressing gowns. What is that all about??

pointydog · 08/08/2008 20:15

get in from work? Yes, I put on a pair of jeans or other casual trousers. Don;t bother changing my top half.

I don't slob about in bobbly trackie bottoms or anything like that.

pointydog · 08/08/2008 20:16

lol @ thai fisherman trousers. Where can I buy those?

moondog · 08/08/2008 20:17

There was once v funny thread asking who took bra off after work.

meglet · 08/08/2008 20:24

bra off, tracksuit on, bare feet. Bliss

onebatmother · 08/08/2008 20:41

do you all have very ill-fitting bras? or teeny-weeny bosoms?

I am far more comfortable with structural support, when vertical.

Swedes · 08/08/2008 20:45

There are vast sections of M&S devoted to "lounge wear". I just don't geddit.

meglet · 08/08/2008 20:45

I have very .erm.. compact boobs .

NorkyButNice · 08/08/2008 20:50

It depends what I wore to work - if a suit and shirt then I get changed, if a more casual skirt/top combo then I'll stay in it.

Also depends if I've done bathtime with DS as he always drenches me (splashing being his favourite activity)!

House clothes is either jeans and top, or tracky pants and tshirt, depending on how slobby I am feeling.
