Do you get changed into 'house' clothes when you get in? And what are they like?

Or are we weird?

Me and dh HAVE to get changed when we arrive home or don't feel comfortable.

We wear appalling clothes round the house.
I would be embarassed to answer the door, tbh.

Yes into pyjamas.

badgermonkey · 07/08/2008 22:10

I do sometimes put pyjama bottoms/crappy tracksuit bottoms and a vest on. We call them 'apartment pants' after an old episode of Friends.

Anna8888 · 07/08/2008 22:11

No, I continue wearing whatever I have been wearing out that day. But I do wear an apron when cooking supper - I have quite a few and sometimes change apron so that it looks better with the outfit I have on

Megglevache · 07/08/2008 22:11

dh calls his loungewear (PMSL)

ravenAK · 07/08/2008 22:12

Yes, into scruffy t shirt & tracky bottoms or boxer shorts (bought a 4 pack for dh, they didn't fit him so I nicked them. About 6 years ago ), depending on season!

My excuse is that my work clothes smell of school. Ugh.

Walnutshell · 07/08/2008 22:14

definitely the comfy stuff but dh and I have been trying to make it slightly less sad since we moved and occasionally have to exit the house to the car (no drive any more) .. need to upgrade to jogging bottoms and tshirt without stains.

tramp.

Walnutshell · 07/08/2008 22:16

yes, upgrade to jogging bottoms! ah, child-giving perspective!

southeatsastras · 07/08/2008 22:17

i get changed but not into slobby things. used to though

PrincessPeaHead · 07/08/2008 22:33

my god. why?

Some of those outfits sound repellent. I mean, I can see the attraction of a pair of pyjamas and some wolly socks (if you've eaten dinner and eg had a bath) but why would anyone want to wear old revolting tracksuit bottoms and a stained tshirt?

Why?

Miaou · 07/08/2008 22:33

I don't, but am a sahm anyway. dh does, he virtually rips his shirt off as he comes in the door and gets changed into shorts and tshirt in the hall

hatwoman · 07/08/2008 22:37

I've started working at home recently and gawd it's bad for your wardrobe. I look a total disgrace most of the time.

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 07/08/2008 22:41

Please Ms Peahead....Three pairs of tracky bottoms, one on, etc., Fresh tshirt every evening.

PrincessPeaHead · 07/08/2008 22:43

but why, bree? when you are wearing decent clothes anyway?
I have one or two pairs of tracksuit bottoms I wear when working out, it wouldn't cross my mind to get home, take off perfectly good clothes, and put them on instead. eurgh.

onebatmother · 07/08/2008 22:44

I don't but if I did, 'house' would refer to 'size of a'

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 07/08/2008 22:46

Because work clothes feel constraining by the end of the day.

deeply aware that PPH is not best pleased......

InvisiblePsychomumVowelThief · 07/08/2008 22:48

I get changed......I do it to relax and breathe again ((hate how bra's feel so tight at times!!))

plus, I am a messy cook, so tis far better o change!

ravenAK · 07/08/2008 22:53

Because my work clothes (suit, or at least smart trousers/skirt & top) don't really lend themselves to my post work routine of collecting youngest from MIL, cleaning up cat piss (don't ask. The cat's senile & I'm a mug) & then cooking an evening meal for a family of 5.

If I worked in t shirt & jeans, obviously I wouldn't change - I don't at weekends.

Heifer · 07/08/2008 22:54

I put my crap clothes on first thing in the morning, and often get changed into proper clothes just before I go out.

On my return if I know that I am not going out again I will put crap clothes back on.

My mum would be horrified if she was still around. She always used to tell me that she wanted to dress nicely for my dad, and often would dress up after a bath after a days gardening etc.. She didn't go as far as the bow in her hair though

When I asked her why on earth did she do that, she would reply, "it is easy to get a man, much harder to keep him"....!!!!

Feck me, DH would have left me years ago if he cared... I would though be horrified if anyone else ever saw me....

onebatmother · 07/08/2008 22:57

damn, just realized that I don't 'get in', ever.

I'm just in, or out.

EyeballsintheSky · 07/08/2008 23:27

Yep tracky bums and a vest or t shirt. I even used to have house bras but DH protested so much that I had to give them up! I cannot answer the door and have to get changed if even my mother comes round. I also put house clothes on when I get up and change if I'm gong out. Always used to be even more so now that dd decorates whatever I'm wearing with dribble.

YumeeMumee · 07/08/2008 23:39

Another tracky bottoms and vest/t-shirt person here....DH puts on shorts and t-shirt...we can't wait to get out of work clothes (suits, shirt/tie etc) Def cannot answer door wearing our scruffs....even have to change if we have take away delivered and then change back into scruffs once they've been LOL

Wuxiapian · 08/08/2008 09:06

As soon as I'm home, I'm in to my scraggy, old, holey tracky bottoms and top.

If visitors suddenly turn up, I have a big blanket that I wrap around me - distracts from the grubbiness underneath somewhat.
