yoo hoo dahlings

i am orf to my mum's in france for two weeks and would like to hear your suggestions for the ultimate in traveling light...ideally one bag.

i will have dd 1 ans and ds almost 5 ans.
we are flying.

we are not near either coast...but may just manage a day trip to the beach....there is a municipal pool locally which i am expecting to live at.

otherwise,we will be going to markets...

it's not a threateningly fashionable place.

so ideally i would (very much)like someone to spell out to me how many pairs of knickers, etc i'd need!

of course i could have worked it out myself by now...but that's not the point is it?

sooo capsules please

lol!
it is in no way a reflection of how organised I am!
in fact, i may use that...

MsDemeanor · 08/07/2008 17:32

Couple (maybe three) of dresses that you really like and are happy to wear on beach or at restaurant, comfy sandals and flipflops, lightweight trousers, t-shirt, cotton cardi and some kind of warm sweater/knit, swimsuit/bikini, couple of bras, few pairs of knickers (you can wash out at night)
That would do me.
I struggle for a warm sweater though. I'm not good at that sort of thing.

MsDemeanor · 08/07/2008 17:33

Dresses should be washable in a sink ideally so can hang out and be dry in a couple of hours in the sun.

beansontoast · 08/07/2008 17:33

i have just in my procrastinating state...(not like its exactly tea time or anything)...been to your profile.

perhaps you could rent me thast said wardrobe...on the strength that your top looks quite nice and you work in the arts

www.joulesclothing.com/product/Womens_Knitwear/E_BRETTON.htm

Good price for cashmere, I think.

Anna8888 · 08/07/2008 17:35

You are worried about a capsule wardrobe chez ta maman?

Does she not have a washing machine? Surely three complete outfits each plus a swimsuit is all you need at your mother's house...

beansontoast · 08/07/2008 17:35

blimey...it looks like i have the answer!...im sure that between those two lists i will be packed.

i will let you know precisely how lightly i have packed...and the things that i STILL DIDNT WEAR!

thanking you kindly

this t shirt

MsDemeanor · 08/07/2008 17:37

Oh and nice sunglasses. I like these: (I'm not normally all Boden, but it's easy to search online!)

www.boden.co.uk/col.asp?segname=%57%6F%6D%65%6E&styid=AV010&segid=6&gpname=%41%63%63%65%73%73%6F%72% 69%65%73&desname=%53%75%6E%67%6C%61%73%73%65%73&gpid=36&gen=

Do you have good legs? Willowy waist? Age? Size?
I don't believe that everyone can have the same capsule wardrobe.

SheherazadetheGoat · 08/07/2008 17:40

jersey type dress that can be dressed up for an unexpected soiree or dressed down for leetle trips to the market.

CountessDracula · 08/07/2008 17:56

I am going on an annoyingly bitty holiday (city, log cabin in middle of nowhere, wedding, then beach)(will be very very hot and humid in city and wedding, very hot not so humid for rest)

I am dreading packing!

I was thinking though

5 dresses (3 day ones for v hot times plus wedding one and another smart one for pre wedding party whcih can double up for smart dinner in city)

Black linen trews
Denim skirt
Black cotton light skirt
Linen shorts stoney colour

5 t-shirts all of which will go with either bottom

2 cardis to go with dresses and other

Converse (for hiking)
Birkies
Sparkly flip flops
Wedges (maybe for more cas. night out)
Wedding shoes

Plus 2 cossies and a thing to go over

How can I get this list down?

Bundle · 08/07/2008 17:58

ditch wedges, denim skirt, one of the dresses

CountessDracula · 08/07/2008 17:58

yes was thinking of ditching wedges as you can see

One dress takes up bog all space though

CountessDracula · 08/07/2008 17:59

Love denim skirt don't want to ditch
(in fact had two on mental list originally and have already binned one)
