yoo hoo dahlings

i am orf to my mum's in france for two weeks and would like to hear your suggestions for the ultimate in traveling light...ideally one bag.

i will have dd 1 ans and ds almost 5 ans.
we are flying.

we are not near either coast...but may just manage a day trip to the beach....there is a municipal pool locally which i am expecting to live at.

otherwise,we will be going to markets...

it's not a threateningly fashionable place.

so ideally i would (very much)like someone to spell out to me how many pairs of knickers, etc i'd need!

of course i could have worked it out myself by now...but that's not the point is it?

sooo capsules please

do you need all the dresses?
and the flip flops as well as the birkies?

denim = bulky so would be good one to weed out

here

it's more pretty to look at really, than buy

internet-window shopping

(my dress i got not on there tho)

MsDemeanor · 08/07/2008 18:10

I bet you never wear the trousers. If it's that hot only take one cardi and wear it on the plane (ie don't pack it). If global warming goes into reverse unexpectedly, buy another one.

MsDemeanor · 08/07/2008 18:11

Also flipflops or birkies not both.

Bundle · 08/07/2008 18:11

i think trousers v useful but would never wear 3 dresses
use wedding outfit as your going out dress, surely?

MsDemeanor · 08/07/2008 18:11

Denim skirt not so nice if v hot. I hate waistbands in the heat.

beansontoast · 08/07/2008 19:58

sorry it was you msdemeanour that linked to that lovely cashmere jumper and green shorts..soz!.....am getting a bit flushed on that site actually.

nice sunnies bundle...soooo cheap! i had no idea m&s did a range like that

c.drac...oh my god...i would not be able to reduce that list ever ...best of luck

ah but in Cape Cod can be cooler in evenings so denim skirt good

PrincessPeaHead · 08/07/2008 20:42

cape cod is not cooler in evenings in my extensive experience
cape cod completely hot and sticky at all times of the day and night
Mind you I think that list is short enough really

brimfull · 08/07/2008 21:10

I found cape cod cooler in the evenings

fishie · 08/07/2008 21:12

i saw these in next today, i was impressed, less frumpy than usual. haven't been there for a year or so, their jewellery is quite good.

Bundle · 08/07/2008 21:12

beansontoast, you could get 6 pairs for price of silly boden ones

met my neighbour the other day, on the way to her sister's house in the country..she'd bought 10 pairs of pretend crocs for house (lots of muddy fields around) for price of one pair of normal crocs...nuff said

I have ordered that sweater. Will be in Norfolk in August so imagine will make good use of it and indeed

MsDemeanor · 08/07/2008 21:18

Anywhere hot I only wear dresses. One dress, knickers & flipflops - dressed! (only of course, since kids, add industrial strength bra to the list)

CountessDracula · 08/07/2008 22:30

Well I htink it can be cooler in the eves
hence need for longer linen trews and denim skirt

I think my list is admirable in fact

Obv need knickers
and two bras
and a 400 litre bag full of potions and lotions

CountessDracula · 08/07/2008 22:31

ahem
I quote

Take care to bring the right clothes for your visit to the Cape. Cape Cod's maritime climate is changeable from day to night and from day to day. Because it is a peninsula, it is more temperate than surrounding areas (cooler in summer, warmer in winter.) It is sometimes necessary to pack for 2 seasons. Rememberif you go out on the open ocean on a boat, whether it be for fishing, whale watching, etc. always bring pants, a warm top, and a light jacket, even in July & August. The ever-present offshore breeze is significantly cooler than on land. Here are some general guidelines to help you:

"always bring pants"
That is a good idea IMO
Don't want a cold botty
