What boots are we all wearing this winter?

I have some boots that look fine with dresses but feel frumpy with jeans. I am looking for a nice pair of comfortable flat or low heel boots to go with wide leg and barrel jeans.
Possibly a pointed toe?

I am a curvy 10/12 and quite a classic dresser with a nod to current trends IF they suit me.

Has anyone found a gem?

I am a fan of SOREL boots. They are waterproof and last so well. They have some great Chelsea-type boots, hiking boots and some that kind of ride the line between sneakers and boots that are comfy, durable and warm as well as stylish. They’re not cheap but find some you like and wait until Black Friday sales maybe?

ChocolateCinderToffee · 26/10/2026 05:13

I’m wearing the ones I bought from Russell and Bromley ten years ago, I don’t know about you.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePleaseBarista · 26/10/2026 07:45

Thanks @Francestein, they look really well made just not my style with jeans. I have Keen hiking trainers and love them for walks but looking for something more elegant but comfortable with jeans.

I am top heavy so try to balance with a wider leg and feel like a trainer or the round toe boots I have make me look frumpy in a wide leg. Trainer, brogues, pumps and sandals etc all great with barrel but it’s too cold and wet for that now. I think I am looking for some holy grail of pointed toe ankle boot that’s both comfortable and semi stylish, just not sure it exists.

@ChocolateCinderToffeeI have brogues from Russell and Bromley from around 2010 that are still going strong.
I am currently romanticising about a pair of pointed toe kitten heel boots I had from Ravel in 1999 and even though I recall they were super uncomfortable I seem to remember my legs looking longer 🙈.

I have Blundstone Chelsea boots for everyday wear, but i want something a bit smarter...watching with interest

Hmm, I know what you mean. I love a clumpy boot, biker boot, etc but for me, they only work with skirts. If I put them with jeans I feel the urge to don a fluorescent jacket and go work on the roads. I like a pointed toe, kitten heel. Which is handy given there are loads out there just now.

@Purplecatshopaholicexactly. I worse chunky Chelsea boots with a satin skirt and a light knit jumper on Friday and felt good in it. If I had wore a more elegant boot I would have felt more formal and like I was missing my full twin set and pearls.

@IdontjetwashthefuckerI am hoping someone out there has a fab recommendation. I am busy this week but may have to brave the shops next weekend and try on a few pairs.

I just bought these, am hoping they will work with skirts and jeans. An absolute bargain with my Bluelight discount too.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePleaseBarista · Yesterday 09:40

Thanks @Ketryne, they have potential especially if comfortable.

@letmeclearthatforyou unfortunately I have plenty of round toe boots and whilst great with dresses I feel less confident wearing them with the styles of jeans I seem to be wearing more often.

Are these higher than what you're looking for op?

A little. I have slightly higher ones from LK bennet, more of a stiletto though, and whilst fine for evening etc my days are too busy for heels. Thinking low or practically flat if they exist.

I've got these in suede that I wear with my jeans and I love them. I also wear them with dresses and skirts

I’ve got brogue boots from white stuff. They’re brown and leather with suede bits on. They go with jeans and dresses!

EndofDaze · Yesterday 14:42

I’ve just bought some Vivobarefoot Sensus Chelsea boots in brown. They are so comfortable it’s like wearing slippers. They took a few days to get used to but I’m really pleased with them. My daughter (26) has bunions and said they would be good for her feet but she can’t bring her self too😂. They are an acquired taste but they look good with barrel jeans on me. And I like them.

Paul Green - 8271 Chelsea Boots

They're very comfortable and the toe is pointed enough to look good with wide leg jeans or trousers.

Well that’s mighty helpful isn’t it?! 🤣

I have lost loads of weight this year and got a knee high pair of boots from Clarks that l could never get into before- plan to wear the hell out of them as they have sat in a box for years! Had lots of compliments on them already.

Have you tried Clarks OP?

DoorOpening · Yesterday 18:12

I have effing expensive new brown suede clompers from Me&Em, which I love and are comfortable and my style.

And for work, I have black suede low heeled slightly cowboy ish “Ash” boots that are 1000000 years old and still going strong. Hence feeling like my Me&Em splurge was justified (which it wasn’t!)

How did your feet lose weight?😕

MissyB1 · Yesterday 18:19

I’ve been searching shops and online with no success! I’m think I’m after the same as you OP, a medium height heel smart boots to wear with jeans/trousers, but I don’t want suede as just not practical in winter. Proving impossible to find!

JasmineMac · Yesterday 18:26

I bought these, purely to wear with wide leg jeans.

Im wearing the same as every winter. I have 3 pairs of Lanx. They suit most occasions that I'm likely to be part of!
